I dont mind Jawaun James. I think we needed a RT and dont mind reaching in 1st to then go BPA thereafter, but not to trade down, especially when there were suitors available is what pisses me off the most.

We could have traded with Browns or Saints picked up a 3rd and still have had one of James, Moses, Kouandijio or Bitonio

We are zeroed on on particular players. I dont think we will trade up or down in this draft. We are getting the guys we think will help our sore spots.

There is no way to know with 100% certainty that James would still have been available if we traded down. James was the best guy left on their board, that's who you need to take. Hate the pick all you want, but there is no way to know that he was going to be available to us later. I didn't care for the pick either, but im over it. If this team wins 10-11 games next season or just makes the playoffs, the last thing on my mind is going to be who we took 19th overall in the 2014 NFL draft. We have two more picks coming tonight, im more interested in what happens with those than I am pouting over picking a RT in the first round.

I understand both sides of the argument on this, but nobody is going to convince me that picking the 5th or 6th best tackle (2nd tier) in the draft at #19 (vs. picking BPA or trading back and still getting him or Moses) was the best option we had last night. Argue all you want, but that's how a team stays at .500 every single season. I don't mind the player, but I don't like the pick at that spot with what was available and with the option of picking up extra pick(s). I'll just leave it at that, you are not going to convince me and probably a slew of others on her otherwise. <do all the Ted Ginn Jr. thumbs up you want, I'm not going to praise the pick>

I agree...time will tell but I firmly believe trading down was the right move if your not drafting Brandin Cooks....which I woud have done.

I think a good RT prospect will be there at 50 with the depth in this draft.....its poor use of your resources IMO.

You can analyze a million possibilities and on paper of course it is easy to play the trade down game, pick up a mid round pick and still get the same guy.

But you still can't put a guarantee on his availability after a trade down . . . and honestly, the Fins have done the interviews and know what they need for the position. With everything that has gone on this past season on the oline, it's not a position to play around with. If James checked all their boxes, on/off the field and was rated in this area on their board you have to pull the trigger.

One thing is for certain, he definitely fits a need and is a high character guy. We've been risky in previous years (Dion Jordan trade up) . . . I'm ok with safe, especially when it comes to the oline.

Like I said I don't mind the pick, just can't see why we would not have traded down.

I don't think he has the upside of CK, but he is prob the best available day 1 RT on board, but I'm convinced trading back in such a deep draft with a group of RT's still available would have been best option.
