During day 1 of the draft, I happen to miss the dolphins trade and pick. When I returned, I saw that Minnesota was picking 20th which I got excited because I thought we traded down in the draft and picked up extra picks. When I later saw on the crawl that we picked up Carey and traded our 4th away I was not happy.
It's not that I didn't want Carey, but I personally felt that we didn't have many picks in the draft and we gave up too much to move up only one pick. I've heard that the Pats and Cowboys we're on the phones w/ the vikings to move up into the spot but I think we overreacted. In fact, if those teams would have moved up and taken Carey it would have made it easier for us to trade down to say pick 32 or 33, pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd and picked up Smiley, Snee, or Grove and we still would have met the need. I like Carey I just think we reached and could have come out better.
