All eight kickers playing in tonight's preseason games have touchbacks so far (that's not including Sebastian Janikowski on the Raiders, he may kick it out of the stadium later tonight), and pretty much every kick is going at least 6 yards deep in the endzone, if not out the back of the endzone altogether.

Cool rule, NFL. :bricks:

Yea I was watching the SD game and Jaws was saying the same thing, that new rule took away one of the most exciting plays in football. I find it to be bush league as well.

Same with eagles game, what a terrible new rule. So boring. But we will actually have decent special teams this year!!!

Yeah as terribly boring as this rule is, I'm hoping it'll benefit us. I'm not looking forward to a touchback kicking off the season when the Packers/Saints play.

So when you're going to draft players in fantasy football I guess it's a good idea to grab WRs that can catch the ball instead of just racking up return yards

just another way to take the excitement from the game

Maybe next they'll eliminate punt returns and teams will just get the ball wherever the returner caught it. Although if our coverage team(s) are anything like last year, not having returns wouldn't be the worst thing in the world

Hopefully theyll change it back next year after they see it brings nothing to the game. Jaws and Gruden both dislike the new rule. The competition committee is taking football out of football. Why not just put the ball at the 20 and tell teams to start there. No need for kickoffs anylonger. (although SD just returned one for 103 yards - you wont see that from Miami)
