Donte Stallworth to the Eagles

Holy crap. The eagles will have a decent corp. Stallworth, the rookie Baskett, and Reggie Brown. Then they have Gaffney or McCants as a possible number 4. And Pinkston is in there somewhere, even though I don't like him and I think he's a wuss. I wonder if Avant will go to the practice squad?

They are very deep, but the question still remains, do they have a #1? Or for that matter, do they have 2 legitimate starters? I think Stallworth is huge, but I still don't think the Eagles get out of the cellur in the NFC East.

Not as stupid as you think.....

1. Rumors from sources close to the team have said Stallworth had amassed $700K in fines for missing meetings, workouts, etc (more than world class bust Jonathan Sullivan). Stallworth's diva attitude irritated Payton the minute he got here.

2. Stallworth is in the final year of his rookie contract. He made it perfectly clear he wanted out of New Orleans. So the Saints were faced with losing him for nothing (i.e. Bentley and Howard). So a trade for a draft pick and LB was far better than getting nothing.

3. The Saints are trying to package the draft pick in exchange for Donnie Edwards. If they can get the deal done soon it makes the trade that much sweeter.

4. Stallworth wants a huge unwarranted contract. He's been inconsistent since he was drafted so he deserves a huge contract? Let the Eagles pay him or if they can't they will have just leased him for a year......

As a Saints fan I expected this, Stallworth's reputation has always been much bigger than play. It is a little irritating when fans of other teams don't bother to find out why the Saints may have traded this "prize pig".....
