Both of these guys will be solid for us, especially Dorell Wright.
Today on the Hot List [ESPN News] they asked Wade who was the first player he hugged, and he said Dorell Wright. For those who don't know, although not on the playoff roster, Wright trains with Wade daily. Wade went on to predict that Dorell Wright will not only be a player, but will be a SUPERSTAR in this league.
Wright certainly has the potential to be just that, but in 2006-2007, I think he'll finally enter the rotation and at some point, wind up as our staring SF. He's a SG/SF, but he can run the floor like a PG just like he did in the final few games this year when we were resting players & Payton wasn't in the game. He absolutely TORCHED Josh Smith, one of the better young defenders in the league. When we drafted Wright, I'd say he was probably 190-195 pounds (never believe the scouting listings). He's up to about 210-215 now and he'll probably reach 220 by the start of the upcoming season and stay there. He's extremely athletic, very quick, very fast, has an excellent jumper with developing range although he's already got the range, and his defense will come along here in Miami, because that's what we teach. Expect 10-15 PPG from Wright this year, and from then...expect what I call the DW13 (Dorell Wright #1, Dwyane Wade #3 - combined #13, a known "lucky" number) combo to light it up for us in the future. Many compared him to Tracy McGrady coming out've high school in California (can't remember the school name). Dorell Wright doesn't even turn 21 until December.
As for Wayne Simien, he's very polished for a young guy and probably could've played more on this championship team. He's actually a bigger version of Udonis Haslem at 6'9/255 and loaded with muscle. Coming out've Kansas, he was known as one of the most dominating rebounders at that level. Truthfully, he was originally projected as a possible lottery pick, but durability concerns really hurt his stock.
You know what's the best thing about these two? They've already got a ring.
