Betters was paralyzed in a snow skiing accident in Montana in 1998.

Wrong guy bro, Mare's kicking coach was Doug Blevins not Doug Betters! Betters as we know a stud DL for the killer B's in the 80's and Doug Blevins was brought on board by the Johnson coaching regime and he was confined to a wheelchair.

I was at the game in 84 at the Oranage bowl when Doug Betters blocked the extra point aginst the Eagles in the last few minutes of the game to stay undeafeated. They won like 24 to 23. It was a great win.

I had know Idea that he got hurt. Not a clue!

I was 16 and in the eleventh grade when he blocked that kick.I remember thinking it was destiny and we were going to go undefeated again.The killer BEES.Good times.He deserves to be in the ring of honor.

He was a tenacious pass rusher - hard to see him in that wheelchair - he's 6'7", and always remember him as a monster on the field. I remember that blocked PAT - kept the fins at 11-0 or something. Also, remember Betters was the NFL's Defensive Player of the year in '83.
