I don’t think it will happen because he won’t replace the two OC’s during the season. Yet I don’t think having a veteran OC coordinator would threaten him at all. He hired Gailey as the OC in 2020 and you can’t get a veteran presence more than Gailey.

No, but, he'd take the head coaching job and Id tell Flores to take a demotion without a pay cut or hit the bricks and a Terrible Reference for his resume.

Flores' best hope is to get another DC job and try and resurrect his career.
You can tell me if Im wrong, but it seems like black head coaches that fail dont get second chances much. An observation, not a judgement.
His career is just another dream dying in front of our eyes. He never had a chance. He didnt know what he didnt know. White coaches get recycled left and right. Some fkn Idiots actually gave Gase a second, totally Undeserved 2nd chance. Flores will get no such quarter.

Dennis Green actually had success for a while.
Vance Joseph will Never get another one. I doubt Flores ever will.
 
Ross isn’t making any moves midsession and frankly I’m not sure he does anything drastic at seasons end. Other than having a hard on for Harbaugh a few years back he usually sticks with what he has longer than expected.
 
I would make him an assistant head coach or some BS title like Caldwell had right now. I would pay him more than Flores with a multi year contract so that he is my in-house replacement.

If flo doesn’t like it, he can step down, mid season.

I would have Marino on a plane to go talk to his old teammate right this second.
 
While I agree we aren’t changing offenses mid season, I have two thoughts about it:
1) a successful, veteran coach could make scheme adjustments to help these OCs
2) umm even if they did install a new scheme, the results while the players learn couldn’t possibly be worse than right now

If it’s some “BS title like Caldwell had” then what makes you think Pederson jumps and gets sold on having a “BS title”?
