Surprisingly not too negative on CPep. I do feel this is a 180 degree turnaround because Dr. Z was quite negative of Cpep's future in the past, but I think all the positive press around Daunte's mini-camp performances have shut up a lot of people.

But read this following quote, and see if you agree with me that this guy is way off base.

Brees never really won over Marty Schottenheimer in San Diego. His magnificent 2004 season was an embarrassment to the coach. So when Brees tore the labrium in his shoulder, it was off to New Orleans you go, m'lad, without a serious attempt to keep him off the free agency express. And that was despite the fact that there was no experienced backup behind him.
Wasn't Brees Schotty's guy, and never won over AJ Smith? It was basically a power struggle between the two, no? And what the hell is a labrium?

I believe the Labrium is the tissue that lines the shoulder joint. The time had come to play Rivers or trade him, too young too much potential= bye bye Drew

The SI guys were hating on Daunte hardcore-like before he was aquitted and now that He's already impressing in Mini-Camp they've changed their tune.

"He is now in Miami, the result of a trade that cost the Dolphins a second-round draft. Right now the Vikings will be led by Brad Johnson, who will be 38 in September."
Dr.Z had to throw that in there :D

labrum is what its supposed to say if im not mistaken

Yeah that's what I was getting at. I understand names but a simple spell check would have gotten that one.

I beileve you are right about Smith being the Rivers guy.

The whole Brees/Rivers thing was going to have to get solved somehow. Shottenheimer and Smith are basically at odds with each other right now concerning their personel. Marty wanted to keep Brees but i think A.J. Smith likes Rivers. It's a really confusing situation because i was under the impression that Shottenheimer was the one who fell in love with Rivers at the Senior Bowl saying that he reminded him of Bernie Kosar or something like that.

Think it was more of the difference in philosphy between head coaches & GMs. Marty & Smith liked Rivers and saw him as QB of the future because Brees had not performed well and neither felt he was the QB of the future. However, when Brees kicked butt Marty "flip-flopped" because he's a coach and wants the guy to start who will win the most games every year. The GM is more willing to stay with the commitment to the #4 pick because of the salary cap and what he probably feels will be better for the organization winning longterm. Smith is staking a lot on Rivers.
