just a thought...kind of thinking out loud....what would u all think if we sign center matt birk, who days in minnesota look done...then how would u feel if we use our first 2 picks in this years draft on teammates from oklahoma...how about with the first round pick we take guard duke robinson and with the first pick in the 2nd round we select tackle phil loadholt...that would sure up the problems with our offensive line...what do you all think

Overkill if u ask me:

I think everybody rather draft one of these young Power Centers . . . no need to go after Birk when u can get a Center better suited for our offense in this draft. Isn't Birk like 33?

Plus we have SERIOUS competition at Guard already lined up, and that is not including any potential FA's or draft picks we may spend late ona guy.

Justin Smiley - Scary injury history, but he will be healthy when TC rolls around. He still a starter.
Donald Thomas - Is already healthy and people have been screaming that this kid has the goods.
Samson Satele - If we do draft that power center that everybody seems to be salivating about, we have terrific depth with Samson. Excellent pulling guard, strong and would be an excellent backup center.
Andy Alleman - Frustrated some with his false starts but you saw him improve as the season went on. He is still young and has alot of talent, great depth. Also a backup Center.
Ikechuku Ndukwe - Started the whole year, he was ok, but got some valuable experience. He is also our backup tackle, with coaching he could improve and be solid. Also can play some Center.
Al Johnson - Experienced guy of the group familiar with the Parcells system. Can play Center and Guard, may stick . . . great for competition.
Shawn Murphy - Dissappointed fans this year with all the injuries we had and couldn't crack lineup . . . but he is a work in progress and we knew that when we drafted him. For him to stick the whole season means this FO likes something. Maybe he takes the next step next season.
Matt McChesney - Everybody was screaming the praises of this kid when we signed him. He got hurt and we IRed him, but I'm sure he is in the mix come next season. More young talent to evaluate by a Head Coach who's speciality is the Oline.

That is 8 guys we have . . . all of them are under 30 and all of them got talent. There is no need to go guard in this draft. We gotta get the best out of the guys we have on this roster already. Let the competition begin.

As for Loadhalt . . . he struggles with speed rushers but he is a load in the running game. Definitely needs more coaching at the next level. Definitely a RT only. I rather go after a guy like Alex Boone, but that is me.

I would draft 1 Center and 1 OT in this draft and be done with it . . . of course I am assuming we resign Carey.

WE are going to be OK at guard IF Smiley comes back and Thomas plays up to the level everyone is expecting him to play at. The rest of the guys you mentioned are backup type. We "NEED" to address the guard position. If we don't we are going to be doomed to repeat what happened this year. That was poor interior line play...

Yea the interior line play was not where u want it to be, but u are forgetting these guys are young and our head coach is an OLine specialist. Give these guys some time, makes no sense to bring in more young talent when we have talent at the position already, guys just need to be coached up. Plus the team should address the Center position, Guard is fine IMO, anytime you lose both starting guards it can be tough. We still were 11-5 with 2 backup guards who got valuable experience. We will see our guard play improved next season.

We can use these picks on other areas of the team. I much rather get more talent at LB, NT and DB. Just my opinion tho.

Im split what direction to go....the first thought I have is much will depend on what the trifecta does with V.Carey.

If they chose to replace him the question becomes how? FA or draft?

as for the interior my thought is the young guys that played are they up and commers or did this coaching staff just work wonders?
Talent is always the first thing you want then coaching, Smiley & Thomas looked like the answers but what if there not? the G's and C play this year really was underwhelming, so upgrades should be made.

My gut says that after the RT is decided the certain Oline pick in the draft will be C and I wont at all be surprised if its not A.Mack I know he is a #1 pick but the mid to late 20's is where C go, who was the highest C drafted?
