OK, the draft is over and I liked our draft, but it could have been better IMO.
This is how I would have drafted, given the players who were available when the Dolphins picked (assuming trades were not possible since they didn't trade up or down) and trying to stay consistent with the Dolphins needs and draft plans.
My draft fixes the LT position (which i feel is/was more of a concern than Punt returner and/or WR) and leaves Carey at RT (where he played very well). Here goes!
9. (1st) Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame
40. (2A) Tony Ugoh, OT, Arkansas
60. (2B) Sampson Satele, C, Hawaii
71. (3rd) Laurent Robinson, WR, Illinois State
108. (4th) Paul Soliai, DT, Utah
181. (6A) Nate Ilaoa, FB, Hawaii
199. (6B) Drew Mormino, C, Central Michigan
219. (7A) Brandon Siler, LB, Florida
225. (7B) DeShawn Wynn, RB, Florida
238. (7C) Wright Abraham, DE, Colorado
F/A - Reagan Mauia, FB, Hawaii
- Brandon Fields, P, Michigan St.
Ugoh would have given us the big and mobile LT that we needed to anchor the spot and Alibi could have rotated with him. Robinson is very fast and would have given us another WR to stretch the field with Hagan and there are a number of players that could have returned punts like Hakim or Campbell, especially since Tedd Gimp, Jr. can't be that "explosive" player if he isn't even on the field. I like Ilaoa better than Mauia who would have likely been undrafted, and Siler better than Smith. I think Fields could have also been picked up as a free agent.
That's my 2 cents, let's see how you could have improved the Dolphins draft.
