I'd rather have Brandon Thomas or Kyle Van Noy over Bitonio. Come back in the 3rd rd and take Weston Richburg, maybe James Gayle in the 4th rd. I watched some more film of Santreal Henderson and I wouldn't mind picking him up if he isn't a total head case, he's a talented player. Still have Trai Turner in mind for middle rounds and taking a chance on Matt Patchan late.
He's only a partial head case. Still want him?
Maybe. Greg Hardy was a bigger head case coming out of Old Miss, look at him now. The bottom line is that Henderson call play ball. Given all that happened last year with the OL maybe he's off Miami's draft board altogether, who knows.
If our first two rounds go like that, I'll be pretty pissed.
...needs to get stronger...
Martin might be the safe and obvious pick, but I think that it's the right one. Bitonio I'm not so crazy about.
I disagree. To draft an OG that high, he better be dominant. Martin is good, but I don't see a dominate player. He's not a Warmack or Cooper as a prospect, and those guys wouldn't go nearly as high in this draft. You can get a good OG in the 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th RD. IMO, you're passing on significantly better talents by drafting Martin at 19. I know the O-line was bad last year, but reaching for needs in the 1st RD is never a good thing.
This is a statement that always worries me about OL targets coming out of College when I see it time and again. Makes me think of the likes of J. Martin and D. Thomas. I know OL players need to develop, as all players do - but I'd rather have to develop technique than strength when it comes to OL.
That said, I like Bitonio :)
