As a longtime dolphin fan following the draft, I can only point out one thing. And that is (besides Marino) any year that we are in need of a player or position, that is the first positiion to go. Do I need examples?
We had to trade at 18 up to get Carey (who was the third rated OT). We wanted a DT last year, so what happened? We had the 2nd pick in the draft and there wasn't a top 10 pick (from this year) to be. I could go on and on. So following that logic, it's easy to figure out who will be gone by our pick.

We need a QB. The top 2 QBs will be gone by pick 6 so we won't even have a chance to trade up.

We need an OT. I predict the top two will be gone. That's four gone total

We might be thinking DB, but Landry will be gone. Now 5 gone.

We don't need a RB, but the "best to come along in 10 years" might still be available, but probably not seeing that we would be able to trade down with GB for him. That's 6 players drafted.

We aren't lucky enough for Adams to fall to us. Seven gone.

I am starting to get worried about Ginn. He should be there, but given the dolphin draft curse, I wouldn't be suprised if he were gone. Make it eight gone.

You can't pick a LB that high ...but no one will trade down with us.

we need a CB .. but there isn't one good enough to draft at 9.

The good news is that we have so many needs and pick at 9 someone good will have to be available.

Since we don't really need an DT (IMO), the best player available on the board will be DT Okoye. He's too good to pass up and thus will be our #1 pick will be Okoye.

I have also seen this. I just hope this year we can make something happen to break this curse. Maybe we'll finally be able to pull off a trade that will enable us to get a player that instantly upgrades our roster and additional picks to get more flexibility in our drafting .

thats ok that quinn is gone cuz i hope we get beck with late second rounder. amobi might not be the worst thing in the world, people on espn say he wil be the best pass rusher in the league after a few years in the NFL. then we could go O-line or WR with the first second rounder, like rice, jarrett, gonzalaz. that seems really good.

Wow, you said it perfect. But I would be happy with Okoye.
Hell, after four years in the league (which is when he should be at full speed), he will only be 23 or 24. Too bad DC, doesn't have the IQ of this kid.

Absolutely true...it sure would feel better to me if we'd had that #2 pick from 2004 this year instead. But C'est la Vie...as long as whoever it is makes an impact this year, we'll be better off than in past years, particularly the Wanny years. I'd take Akoye or Brown as a second level guy. Ginn might not be rated that high, but it wouldn't hurt us, I don't think...

Rarely does the player a team covets just fall into their laps. I suspect the Fins will get a great player at #9. I don't care what position he plays as long as he ends up being a long time contributor to our success. A few pro bowls along the way would be nice as well.

Unfortunately I have also noticed our run of horrible luck with what available positions fit our needs, however there is one exception to this curse that I can think of...

"And the Miami Dolphins select...Jamar Fletcher...CB Wisconsin"

Obviously, the solution to our QB problem was there for the taking and we passed on him. Maybe this "curse" is our punishment for the front office's stupidity?

I agree with everything you said here, but technically it's not entirely logical. You counted 8 people who will be drafted before the Dolphins, but you left out Calvin Johnson who will certainly be in the top 3 imo. So more than likely one of those guys listed will be there when the phins pick. I personally feel that using the 9th pick on a commodity like ginn would be a waste, and hope they don't go that route. Quality receivers can be found in the later rounds. More pressing needs like tackle or our secondary should be addressed here. I also feel that using the 9th pick on levi brown would also be a reach, so trading down appears to be the best option the way I see it. Like you mentioned, there is a good chance peterson will still be on the board, and I imagine there are plenty of teams like GB or Buffalo looking to get their hands on him.
