Like each draft year, certain positions offer a deeper draft pool than other positions. Below is a simple table based on Scouts Inc draft grades by position for players of a minimum grade of 70( on a scale of 1-100) or higher. Currently the Dolphins hold the overall picks of 1,32,57,64,96,160,192.

My hopes are the Dolphins land five starters having 5 pick within the top 96 picks.

The below table is players by positions available with draft grades of 70 or higher which according to Scouts, Inc represent players who can become immediate starters at the NFL level and are expected to go in rounds 1 and 2.

WR 16
CB 14
DE 12
OT 10
RB 9
DT 8
OLB 8
QB 7
ILB 5
S 5
TE 5
OG 4
OC 3
Total 106

So this years talent pool seems to be deepest at WR,DE,OT,RB, OLB,and DT...all needs for Miami, and they should be able to pick up adequate help with picks 32,
57,and 64 on Day One.

Definitions of Scouts INC grades between 100-70.

Grades 100-90-Rare Prospect-Player demonstrates rare abilities and can create mismatches that have an obvious impact on the game. Is a premier college player that has all the skill to take over a game and play at a championship level. He rates in the top 5 players in the nation at his position and is considered a first round draft prospect.

Grades 89-80-Outstanding Prospect-Player has abilities to create mismatches versus most opponents in the NFL. A feature player that has an impact on the outcome of the game. Cannot be shut down by a single player and plays on a consistent level week in and week out. He rates in the top 10 at his position and is considered a second round draft prospect.

grade 79-70-Solid Prospect-Still a standout player at the college level that is close to being an elite player. He has no glaring weaknesses and will usually win his individual matchups, but does not dominate in every game, especially when matched up against the top players in the country. He will usually rate in the top third of players at his position and is considered a third round draft prospect.

Hey, can you please reconcile these two statements?

Great list and I like what it says. Lucky for us, the top 3 are huge needs for us!

Not knowing what the 1st pick will be yet but I expect to see us grab the OT /CB position in the first 2 round a TE in the 3rd and LB with the 4th. After that who knows. If Jake Long is our pick then prabably a LB with our 2nd pick in the 2nd round. Our 1st 4 picks based on needs and what positions Parcells like to pick is why I beleive it will trun out this way. We really need a guard too but the draft looks a little thin and FA usually provides better options.
