Before the draft, I thought we should take two CB's and a WR or two. My reasoning was that, other than QB, these are the two positions which take more time to develop. I was looking to 2010, and filling in LB and NT in next years draft.

Smith, Davis, and Hartline are ahead of schedule. Not sure on Turner, but he has also looked pretty good. Granted, none have played vs top competition but, they are still showing well against NFL players. This should not be happening this quickly.

I'm impressed.

While it may seem that this draft is a big success... i'll hold my judgement until next year and see if they are making the same contributions!!! the 2008 draft looks solid, but there are growing concerns about the developements of Merling and Henne ... and that alone has me wondering a little more about the great success the 2008 draft intitially had... so far in 2009, there seems to be great success with most of the picks, but i want to see them make consistant contributions on sundays 1st before i say with any degree of certainty that 2009 is a success!!!

Agreed. I did not expect anyone to that good this year, and they still have a ways to go.

As to last year, not sure on Henne, Merling will be fine, and Langford is ahead of schedule.

My hope is that Henne will be more than a good PRE-SEASON QB... he has lead the Dolphins on drive after drive during the preseaon... but in the last game against the Bucs, faltered somwhat!!! but i'll blame the 2nd string O-Line for that... Merling has me dissappointed so far in that his practice habit's haven't improved to the point where the coaching staff trust him in a starting role... aside from these 2 players the rest of the 2009 draft looks solid... especially with Long, Murphy and Thomas all making solid contributions so far in year 2 ... Langford is a typical BP draftee... and has been more than solid so far... now for 2009... Smith and Davis have the MAKINGS of a great duo!! Hartline to me has been the biggest suprise, considering all the flak the F/O took for drafting him in round 4... i wasn't thrilled myself, but this kid just goes out and plays!!! so far Turner and White have been too up and down for my taste, and figure to improve with another year in the system... BP wanted White for a reason, we will just have to wait and see as to that reason... Clemons is making his presence felt on special teams as he learns the system, but looks to be a keeper for a very long time!!! he is always around the ball in his short time playing in the pre-season!!!

my only concern on this years draft was nelbone at TE .with the season our two TE had i thought it was a wasted pick.other then that this should turn out to b another BP gems

Anyone notice that Clemons is the first one there on kick and punt coverage.....every time?

We won't really know anything until season gets started. I remember being a little confused and disappointed after most of the picks. Then looking at the Giants picks and thinking that's more like what our draft should have looked like. I thought for sure Nicks would be our #25.

Still in the preseason but several months later Turner and Hartline have far exceeded my expectations. In NY, Barden has done about as well as Turner but is the # 5 receiver. Nicks has floundered and is the #6 reveiver, although did have a good long catch against the Bears 3rd strings.

Just looked at the 3rd week results. Nicks really shined against the Jets 2nd string in the 2nd half with 2 TD and 144 yrds with Carr passing.

Just goes to show it's way too early tell how any team has drafted.

still wanted HAKEEM NICKS.

anyone see him light it up for 2 td's and 144 yds
against the jets the other night? we need that kind
of wr production.

now, if vontae becomes a shut down, pro bowl corner
then the sting of once again the team snubbing an
an awsome offensive weapon wont hurt so bad.

we did need db's. but hakeem was my favorite player in the whole
draft and i just feel he is going to be a perenial pro bowler. we just
can not hang with teams who have grreat offenses because we
cant do ANYTHING through the air.

I agree this draft appears to be ahead of schedule and we seem to have gotten some solid contributors from the later rounds. However, as previously stated it's too early to tell. I agree with notion on the Nalbone pick, it was a waste in my opinion because Fasano i think is going to have a breakout year, but we'll see how it plays out.

i realize what your saying about Merling and the play he made in the last game of the 2008 season!!! BUT, he was given EVERY chance in training camp in 2009 to become the STARTER... BUT, hasn't shown enough to the coaching staff, in practice, to win the starting job... while the 2008 draft has been a rounding success, Merlings inability to win the starting job, now that he's been healthy, somewhat hinders the great success the 2008 draft class has had!!! Henne on the other hand seems to be getting alot of negative comments from alot of the posters on here with his "STARING DOWN of HIS RECEIVERS" ... to me Henne has made alot of progress in terms of his ability to march a team down the field for a possible score... he has done that ALMOST everytime he's been behind center in the 2009 pre-season... ULTIMATELY this could hold him back from being the starter sooner than later!!! i feel he will eventually become the starter, but he needs to learn to look off his receivers down field ... if he doesn't learn this he will get burned in alot of games moving forward!!! SO, taking these 2 points about Merling and Henne, into consideration, I FEEL the over all success of the 2008 draft can and will be hinders somewhat...

Clemons will eventually take over Gibril Wilson's spot. Kid's got some serious talent.

Absolutely, to have that type of speed, and still be known more for how fierce you hit, if this kid learns to be a little better in coverage, and recognition, he will be a very special player.
