Indeed, once you move past the three sure-fire first-round selections, there lately has developed a suspicion that the alleged depth of the tailback pool in the 2005 draft does not live up to its hype.

"Because of what's happened the past 10 years or so, with teams being able to locate productive [tailbacks] later in the draft, we've been kind of lulled into this feeling that it will always be that way," said one AFC college scouting director. "And looking a little bit harder at this year's draft now, I've got to tell you, it might be kind of a false sense of security. You hear a lot of guys in my profession, people I respect, talking about all of the depth at running back. Maybe it's just me but, man, I don't see it."

Maybe we should play it safe and take one of the three in the 1st round. Since according to some, the depth at RB is not as good as some say it is.

It's not deep to the point where you'll find RB's in the later rounds that are just as good as the ones in the early rounds. But it's deep to the point that those in the late rounds could be good starting RB's in the NFL.

So I disagree with Len P. Of course he's always making up stuff so he has something to write about.

With that said, I'm still on the Ronnie Brown bandwagon.

Even though Moats and Sproles are undersized I think they will have the best careers apart from the big 3.

don't be duped - there's always a hidden agenda - len himself even stated that prior to last year a non-1st round pick led the league in rushing the last 9 years - the afc scout that was quoted probably has a hardon for a wr or qb for his team

There are 17 backs I can call capable in this draft. On average I usually give that title to about 10-12 most years.

Let the draft misinformation games begin!

In my opinion the basis of the whole article depends on what one AFC scout said. Of course, the scout knows other teams will read it. He probably hopes it changes their mindset.

Now, it couldn't possibly be a Dolphin scout trying to maximize the chance a team would move up in the first round?!? Nah....

it's a nice problem for us to have - rb no doubt is our biggest need but with the depth this year, at least we have the option of looking at a q.b. or edwards with the 2 or trading down for that matter - the draft is gonna be pretty exciting for us this year for a change

I am salivating at the idea of having Rodgers as a Dolphin. Pinpoint accuracy, arm strength, poise, smarts. Stop believing all this bull**** about Tedford QBs. Carr and Rodgers are different.

Don't believe it for a 2nd. This is the deepest RB class I've seen in well.... wow...

Maybe 2001 was similar in depth?
What he said! Theres as much depth at rb, maybe more so than at any other position.

I still believe that there's a possibility we might go with Braylon at #2.

It's not likely but Edwards is a legitimate possiblity.

I really doubt, I TRULY DO, that Saban is going to pick Ronnie Brown at 2.

you gotta love the melodrama - do we pick one of the 2 qb's and grab a rb later or do we grab brown and look at a qb later on or do we just grab edwards... must see t.v. starting sat april 23

For once we won't have to wait long to see the answer! For best or for worse :roflmao:

I do like Braylon, and would love to have him on the Phins, but I don't know what we would do about the person throwing the ball to him.
