While we all debate where Miami should go in the draft and prepare to scrutinize each pick on draft day - keep this article in mind.

It's Peter King's 2002 NFL Draft recap, written immediately after Joey Harrington went #3, Quentin Jammer #5 and Clinton Portis in the 2nd round. And after the Ravens were ripped for ignoring need and picking some dude named Ed Reed.

It's a super interesting bit of perspective and evidence that we never know how well a team drafted until several years have gone by.

There was this, too:

Miami. We all knew this was The Ricky Williams Draft. When you don't pick until 90th, you probably won't get much help. But keep one player in mind: tight end Randy McMichael. He'll make this team and catch 45 balls in the new tight-end-friendly offense.

why r u posting something from 2002 ... what is the significance?

"2. New England, fourth round, 117th pick: LSU QB Rohan Davey. If Bill Belichick picked a Nick Saban player, that means something. There aren't many people whose opinions he values more than Saban's. "

Great find, reminds me of how wrong one can be when evaluating players. And makes the Culpepper deal even so much better.

two of the best picks in the Draft from what I seen was
Ed Reed Need I say more? They get blasted for taking him!
Alex Brown DE 4th 104 overall Look at him now he really plays big for them!
Najeh Davenport RB 4th round 135th overall He is a good back-up and did alright as a starter

Looks like Nick pulled a fast one of Bill.....

7. New Orleans. Stallworth and Charles Grant are a draft all by themselves, two players at the team's neediest positions. And getting center LeCharles Bentley begins to retool an offensive line in need of retooling.

Randy Mueller amazing draft :D
