I like the Branch pick, a lot...especially with Traylor retiring, Vonnie a free agent, Zgonina is worthless/retiring, and Wilkinson pulling a disappearing act this year.
The Brandon Siler pick, not so much...by retaining Capers that means that we will be running the 3-4 defense, or at least a hybrid. Second rounders aren't for our 4-3 situational players, and playing at a listed 235 lbs is too light for a future investment for a 3-4 DE/OLB type.
I like the Stanton and Taylor picks a lot, this draft is deep at WR and unless a Calvin Johnson fell to us, I just don't see any WR worth the 9th overall selection in the draft this year. We have much more pressing needs than quarterback to invest more than a third or fourth round pick on.
Other selections at #9 that I could see happen would be Gaines Adams if he fell to us, Joe Thomas in the extremely unlikely event that he would fall to us, and in all honesty that is about it...maaaybe Leon Hall, maybe. I don't see Ginn being a good pro and Jarrett is a reach at #9, and not that rare of a talent.
I am one of th efew who does not see WR as a tremendous need for us. What we need is for our QB to get a chance to be healthy and have a little bit more time behind that offensive line.
The only big-name FA I think we will pick up is Leonard Davis, especially if we retain Houck, who loves those big offensive linemen.
