I've been wondering about a few things that I wanted to throw out there to the experts.
Eric Berry is a special talent and many have noted that if he drops to #12 the Dolphins would be thrilled to take him. Most realize that the odds of him dropping are slim and I agree. But Earl Thomas is considered to be a similar talent to Berry and using the same argument wouldn't the Dolphins jump to draft him? He should be there. I guess my question to the experts is how close are these guys? Judging by Youtube highlights they look really similar, but what about intangibles and all those other things that an organization looks for.
Brandon Graham would seem like the perfect pick at #12 and after his senior bowl performance I wouldn't say this was much of a reach. So here's the question with Graham. If Miami moves Phillip Merling to SOLB and he plays well there, could Graham be a weakside backer?
I love Justin Smiley as a player, but keep wondering if the front office will keep him around due to injury concerns and a bad contract. If the Dolphins part ways with Smiley who would be some players in this draft who could be middle round steals among the offensive linemen? I expect Miami to keep Smiley, but this offseason could be unpredictable and if the team needs to free up money you never know.
Is Cam Thomas worthly of a #2 pick? Early in the process he seemed like more of a 3rd/4th rounder but his stock is skyrocketing. This is a tough area to improve in free agency. What are the opinions on this guy?
Thanks.
