If Miami stays with the 9th pick and you had to choose between a need or talent. I have been reading post after post, mock draft after mock draft. All of them have the Fins picking need but besides maybe Quinn none of them has the wow factor. So it mad me think I have seen numerous mocks show RB Peaterson between 6 to 10. If he falls to us why not pick him and let Ricky go somewhere else. If you think Im crazy look at what the Saints did with Bush and McCallister. What a two headed monster that would be and Peaterson could fill the void of Welker on Special Teams. Well its a thought and would like to here what you all think.

I say draft a need. At #9 there will be talent at a need spot.

Having Brown with Williams is like having Bush with McCallister in my opinion. Ricky is a proven back when he is on the field. A rookie can be hit or miss.

The great teams draft talent not need. Maybe one day we'll be a great team. God knows our draft history isn't very stellar.

If Peterson falls, I'd jump on him in a heartbeat. You can never have too many good RBs. Look at what the Patriots do year after year: They pick the best players available at the spot they are picking. And every year they lose free agents and have people to step right in and not miss a beat. And not only that, they also get comp picks for the guys they lose!

The Fins have been reaching for needs over talent since the Wannstedt years and look where it's gotten them. Losing seasons and fewer draft picks.

I hope Mueller stays true to his word and drafts FAST playmakers on either side of the ball. Everyone says our defense is fine (they were top 5), but what happens when JT and Zach and Traylor are gone? You have to keep drafting the best players available to fill future holes.

I know the O-Line needs work but I just don't think Levi Brown is the best pick at #9 like almost all of the mocks have us taking him. I'd much rather spend the early picks on players who score points or players who stop points from being scored. Plenty of good O Linemen can be had in the 3-7 round range.

I think you need to draft for talent over need. When you draft for need, sometimes you reach for a player. Thats what the Dolphins have done for too long and part of the reason their in the state they are today.

If you have a player who clearly has elite talent, and your other choice is a less than elite player in a position of need, you go talent.

If all things are basically equal, you go need.

You have to pick talent first and foremost, but you also have to understand your needs as well. I don't think a pure "BPA" is always the right decision. There are decent "error bars" on where players are rated, so it's a tough call sometimes.

For example, if the fins had A. Peterson rated #7 overall and L. Brown rated #11 overall, and they both are available at #9, who do you pick? IMO, you'd go with L. Brown in that case. However, if the fins had A. Peterson rated #7 overall and L. Brown rated #21 overall, then you probably pick Peterson as the top talent.

You can lean toward need at times, but only if the players are rated closely enough.

I don't think you base it on where they are on your board per say, its more of what kind of a grade you have on him.

For example, if Peterson is a 9.5, and you have a grade of 8.2 on Brown, you take try to trade down or take the talent.

In other words, you don't pass on elite talent to take good talent just because of need.
