Draft Tek mock 3/18/14

Draft Tek is awful. I can never take their mock drafts seriously.

I'm not a huge fan of the Draft Tek mocks either, but as to this one:

1. TE Eric Ebron
2. RB Carlos Hyde
3. LB Yawin Smallwood
4. DE Demarcus Lawrence
5. OG Jon Halapio
6. OT Matt Patchan
7. SS Hakeem Smith

That brings a talented, seam busting TE; a solid power RB; a tall, fast talented LB who can play inside or outside; a DE for depth, especially if Dion Jordan moves to OLB; an OG; a talented OT who will be a steal imo if he stays healthy; a good SS which might be important given the imjury history of Louis Delmas. In my opinion not bad at all- I'm a little hesitant as to Halapio, but I need to see more- I'd prefer taking OT/OG Zack Martin at #19. Smallwood is a heck of an athlete, he'd be a good addition imo.

That's a nice draft. I've seen Ebron mocked as high as #9 so it would be a big surprise if he made it to #19. He's one player I'd move up for depending on what the price tag would be. That draft does leave a lot of questions on the offensive line, though.

I do not like the 5th and 6th rd. picks, but they are late in the draft so I can live with them. I have been a UF fan my entire life and I can not for the life of me figure why people like Halapio. That is a waste of a pick when there is better talent available.

There is no way we draft a DE

If Dion Jordan is moved to OLB, as he should be, we'll need a DE. Not only would Jordan be going to his natural position, it takes Philip Wheeler out of the equation. Personally I can't wait until Wheeler, Ellerbe and their bloated salaries are kicked to the curb.

I dont think they are planning on moving Jordan to OLB. His natural fit is a 3-4 OLB not a 4-3 OLB. What they could do is let him play a "joker" type role ala Von Miller...but again I just think they are content with letting him play DE. And honestly yeah he was raw...and the sacks werent there. But he generated a ton of pressure by just being freakishly athletic without any real pass rush moves. He has the "potential" to be a dominant pass rushing DE in a 4-3 and you would be wasting that potential as a 4-3 backer (unless its a joker role, drop him down to the line in nickel, etc)

i love the first pick, the hyde pick is ok, but i would rather have sankey or hill.
