I dont know why people overlook him. He like Micheal Vick that can pass. He's taller then Vick too. I think having him behind CPEP will be great. Kinda like the situation in SD with Brees and Rivers.

Troy Smith is athletic, but Michael Vick with a passing game he is not.

Taller than Vick? That's not what some of the GMs and coaches, those who saw him at the Heisman Trophy presentation says. They say he's closer to Drew Brees height at 5'11" and not the 6'1" listed height.

I can only go by what is listed and he's listed at 6'1". Until the combine we will really know.

I'll be honest with you: should all the Juniors available declare, this is one hell of a QB class. Troy Smith is proven and I don't understand why he doesn't get much attention either. If he pulls a Vince Young in the National Championship you will see that change quickly. He can sit on the bench for a year or two and learn (Hopefully) or in case of injury or other problems he could come in and be the future. I wouldn't mind the pick if Joe Thomas is gone. However, Juniors Russell and Brohm are very very good as well. I'm salivating!!

I agree this year is good year for a Qb I hope the fins get one if Joe Thomas is taken.

And you base that on what. He has better number in college then Vick who was taken #1 overall and is the highest paid Qb in the NFL.

To be fair I don't like the comparison. I think Smith will be a better QB in the NFL than Vick. Vick has yet to find a system that fits or whatever and as far as I'm concerned he isn't a serious threat to win the Super Bowl at this time. I believe that Troy could come in and be a pocket passer with scrambling ability if developed. He's better than Vick but team's need a Brady, McNabb, Rivers or Breese to have a Super Bowl offense IMO. Troy needs comparisons to those guys and not Vick to be taken seriously. I would never look at a guy like Vick and spend that kind of money on a guy who isn't a true QB rushing for over a 1,000 yards in a season on a team with only mixed success. Smith is a much better fit in the league than that.

Troy Smith is not NFL qb
good college QB not NFL

well thats what was said of vince young and look at him now. im a fan of the style of qb that troy smith, vince young, mike vick, etc. Vick imo in just in a bad situation with his wrs in ATL, however i think troy smith would be a great draft pick to build with however i cant really see us taking him just because i still believe the franchise has faith in Daunte and if thats so they will take more present needs than qb in the first round

I'm not sold on Vick either as a QB but to be fair to him, his receivers have deserted him this season. I don't know how many drop passes they have but it has to be worse than ours.

I think the only way we would draft Troy Smith at #10 or in the first is if he performs extremely well in the post season drills that the coaches and GMs will put him through.
Despite the success of Drew Brees, some will view his lack of height and size as a negative.

there should be no comparison between vick and smith. look at smith's rushing numbers this year. He hasnt scraambled that much this year, b/c he has been looking to throw, and he has been extremely successful at it. he has an incredibly accurate arm, and scramblles to buy himself time to throw the ball.
