drafting a QB

F

FLOUNDER

Is it possible for us for a QB such as Brady Quinn or Troy Smith to drop far back enough into the draft for us to draft him?

*sighs*

Troy smith...is not...going to be drafted...in the first round...theres not one analyst or scout who thinks he will. He's too short...

Height matters in the Nfl. Its important. I don't understand why anyone would want a 5'11 QB. He'd never be able to see over NFL size Lineman. Ever.

Its funny you bring up brees. I feel Brees and Troy smith have a lot in common. I feel troy smith isn't nearly as good as hes played thi syear, because his receivers are all pretty talented. Smith has one of the most impressive offenses in the nation. Brees, has the same thing with the saints. Colston came out of no where, Joe horns been consistant for a long time, and having Bush and McAllister certainly helps too. I feel if Brees had come to Miami, we'd be saying hes horrible and cant do anything without gates.

haha. alright.

Yes Troy Smith really isnt that good its because he is surrouned by great players right? I guess making plays with his feet and making great choices are not very good.I guess keep his cool in big games isnt a factor either. Oh yea he has great accuracy and great arm strength. You know what hey this guy sounds good. Oh wait he is 6'0. NEXT.

You people I swear. You dont think Troy Smith factors in his height when he throws it?

Hahaha that made me laugh!! Was Mike Vick to short to be the NUMBER ONE PICK?? Is Drew Brees to short to be an NFL MVP? Wow. Guess what, Jason Taylor is to light to play the line, Zach Thomas is to short to play LB bla bla. Guess what, its NOT a big deal.

Id rather have a shorter guys who can make plays than a big guy who cant. Sorry but Troy Smith will be top 15. The guys has all the intangibles you could dream of, is a big game performer, can run if needed, has a cannon and is accurate at that. All the guy does is win and make plays!! THATS A GOOD THING!! Heard it last year, Vince Young is to stupid to play QB because of the Wonderlic, guess how stupid the Texans feel for passing on him right now.

Oooh, Smith had good recievers! What about Quinn? I guess Jeff Samahoweveryouspellit is a nobody? You cant count a team against somebody. Perhaps it is Smith that makes them great and not the other way around? Perhaps he just knows how to get players involved, maybe hes a great teammate? Does a team get by with just one good player these days?

Most misinformed post of the year right there.

Hell, we might as well just put Smith in the Hall of Fame before he's even taken his first snap in the NFL :shakeno: .

The kid is a really good athlete, a good leader and does have a good arm. That being said, the history of the NFL Draft is littered with star college QBs with similar attributes that never did **** in the NFL. I just don't see Troy Smith becoming a Pro Bowl QB in the NFL. Ain't going to happen. Sorry.

How did that work out for the Falcons? Do you think they'd like to make that pick over again??? HMMMM...LaDanian Tomlinson or Michael Vick...

The only was we draft a QB early is if DC doesn't look like he's going to be 100% & if Cleo sucks these next two games. But I think the main focus will be if CPEP truly looks like he's going to get it together. Obviously Joey's moving back to Veteran back up, but 1st we have to see what Cleo can do & how PEP progresses before anything.

Top 15 pick, guarantee it. Athletically sound and I don't care about the talent he has surrounding him. He makes plays on his own and he didn't win the Heisman for not being athletic. The Heisman goes to the player that does the most for his team and is a complete athlete... e.g. Smith.
Besides, height has nothing to do with being a QB. Brees was brought up, probably at 6 feet, um Doug Flutie anyone... 5'8, Fran Tarkenton 5'11, Joe Theisman 6 feet. I really don't see height being a problem in the QB position.
