Drafting a WR despite not needing one.

I would be happy with Edwards, but much happier with a trade down with Minnesota! Edwards is a game breaker; there would be nothing wrong with taking him at #2. Edwards/Smith I don't care which way we go as long as we play them every down possible.

Ditto! At this point, I think the three options that stand out are, 1) Draft Smith at #2 if SF doesn't sign him. 2) Draft Edwards, if SF signs Smith, and we have no decent trade offers. 3) Trade our pick, and hopefully end up with the Vikings #7 and #18. With those we can go in any direction and probably end up with 2 very good players. I think I could live with any of these scenarios.

I'd be very happy with Edwards, I'd also be happy with Mike Williams, but we're still probably going to need a RB either this year or next year depending on if Gordon can prove he's a worthy player, and can actually stay healthy. We could get by with Gordon/Morris(who I think is highly underrated)/Minor, but at this point none of these 3 guys scares opposing defenses. We're also going to need a QB (IMO) but Definitely not one with a top 5 or 10 pick. Bring me Edwards, and Mcpherson at some point in the draft, and this will be the best NFL draft in a VERY long time in my eyes

Im still for drafting Ronnie Brown, altough i would be happy drafting Edwards. Ronnie isnt only a hard runner, hes a fourth reciever out of the backfield. Gruden said he had the best hands at the combine, tell me how many outside linebackers are quick enough to cover a 6'1 233 pound back who runs a 4.4?

But i would still like to have 1st edwards 2nd (hopefully) mcpherson 3rd Frank Gore- or best running back available

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
next year we should trade jason taylor aging zack thomas and a first round draft choice to get the overall number 1 selction and use it to draft linehart from usc (best quarterback in college then we will have our franchise quarterback:roflmao: just an idea

Don't forget about the speculation that Ricky's coming back for at least 2 more years if he suits up. This gives us time to grab a runner later. Hopefully Saban has already has an answer to that question.

As I've been saying.......we should draft either Edwards or Williams at number 2 and then draft a RB later in the draft. I'll trust Saban to decide which of the two WRs is the best, but at least draft one of them.:cooldude:

If we do trade down, I hope that Mike Williams would still be available in which ever spot we end up.

We must have a RB later on in the draft as well.

Teams always need a receiver.......the Dolphins have need at receiver...they have had a need since the Mark's bros.

get edwards this year.
if we suck with feeley, then we can get leinart next year and be set for a super bowl run in 06 culminating in the super bowl in dolphins stadium.

Braylon is NOT David Terrell or Terrell Owens.. Braylon gave some impressive interviews yesterday.

"He'll be completely healthy to run in four weeks," Boston's agent, Mitch Frankel, said. "The Dolphins told us that David should get himself ready and talk to other teams if he wants, but that they'd be open to having him come back."

Hmm I forgot Boston was still out there. Chambers,Booker,Boston,Thompson,Mcmichael wat quarterback wudnt want to be throwing to those guys!

If Boston came back I like Ronnie Brown they say hes the best reciever in the draft anyway. My concerns are his age and I question his elusiveness though.Best case scenerio he's Marshall Faulk or LT worst case he's Eddie George. Or maybe a qb

Edwards would fit in very nicely. allows Chambers to slide to the slot where he is better suited. our 3-wide sets would compare to any in the league at that point. Thompson has had his chances and is a bust.

I hear it already, without a QB, a 3 WR set is useless. give Feeley a chance. who's to say putting a rookie back there would be any better immediately. Not myself for one.

Some people are turned off by the fact that we are going to draft Braylon Edwards instead of a RB like Ronnie Brown if we are unable to trade down and the 9ers take Smith.

Last year Dennis Green drafted Larry Fitzgerald 3rd overall. They had a glaring need for QB. They passed up Rivers and Roethlisberger. They could have also used a saftey like Sean Taylor if he decided to go defense. They already had Bryant Johnson and Anquan Boldin .

Ya picking Fitz ahead of the two QB's, especially Rothlisberger, REALLY worked out for the cards! They're all very excited here in AZ that they have a great three wide set and no franchise QB to throw to them. If this, coupled with your RB by committe garble, is a "solid" defense for drafting a WR instead of a RB, then the RB wanting fin fans should have nothing to worry about.

I have no problem taking a wr; we're going to need another 1 since we're going to be running a lot of 3 wr sets out there as Linehan did in Minny. Im just vehemently against taking Braylon. Ive posted this so many times but ill say it again; the simlarities to Terrell are scary. Id honestly rather have no one at all then have Braylon Edwards. :shakeno:
Quit your pouting!!! Nobody at all...Come on? Every reciever that comes out of michigan is not going to be David Terrell. Set aside your prejudice and look at the facts objectively. Besides we'll probably trade down anyhow.

I sense some deep rooted anger. The Cards did improve last year. They were missing Anquan and finally McCown was starting to win some games until they made the switch to Shaun King. Our QB situation is better than Arizona last year. Plus last year was loaded with talent that the Cards could have used this year isnt. I am saying that it would not be a first for a team to pick yet another WR.

Also when I think the Dolphins have to pick Braylon at #2. They need to give minnesota the impression that they are taking Edwards so that they will get trade offers. However, if Minnesota trades up Sabans first impression cant be one of a false signal giver or a liar. If he says he is goign to pick Braylon then he is going to have to. Mike Williams is probably not going to draw the interest from Minnesota and other teams. Braylon is probably the most sure thing in this draft. Other than the fact he loses concentration he has no other holes in his game.

Smith - only shotgun in college and weak arm
Rodgers - Tedford QB, mechanical looking
Williams - 4.6 speed
Ronnie Brown - Why didnt he start in Auburn, lacks elusiveness
Cedric - Wear and tear more so than any RB in college, doesnt like to block
Cadillac - maybe too small, may not last up to the abuse in the nfl
Antrell Rolle - mid 4.5 speed.
Pac Man - 13 on wonderlic and not ideal size
Derrick Johnson - doesnt fair well when play is directed at him. Doesnt play his size
These are just the opinions going around so dont argue with me about them.

In the end I think our pick has to be Braylon if Smith is gone for Saban to interest trade partners and save face if we dont get a trade done.

No Braylon Edwards

I've read from Sporting News or PFW that if Edwards had gone in last year's draft, he wouldn't have been the first or second WR taken!

If we can't get Smith, trade down, even if we don't get full chart value. The chart isn't completely accurate anyway. First few picks this year aren't up to snuff.

Is that that big of a deal?

He wouldnt have been picked higher than Larry Fitzgerald or Roy Williams? Dont forget that that was last year too before he his senior campaign. I saw this guy dominate against Texas in the biggest game of his college career. I should say I am neither for Edwards or against him. But to say that as a junior he wouldnt have been picked higher than Larry Fitzgerald or Roy Williams is not a big deal at all.
