Drafting Chris Huston wouldn't hurt my feelings

Maybe I am a little bias, because im from AR. but just take a look at the kid!

1. He played the SEC west
2. Went up against Meachum (TENNESSEE), Rice and Newton (SOUTH CAROLINA), Bowe (LSU), Jarrett and Smith (USC).
3. ran a 4.3 in the 40 at the combine
4. Even after facing those possible first round recievers he is considered a "shut down corner" he dominated most of them everytime they played!

I would be perfectly happy to draft him at 9 although some would think that is to high, I believe he is better than any other corner in this draft and will be an elite NFL player!

This Game**** didn't see the other games, but Sidney Rice schooled his arse.
 
The NFL has rules that completely contradict Houstons style of play. Houston is a jam and press corner, the NFL barely even allows that anymore. How many 'defensive holding' calls did we get last year because our corners were pressing the receivers?

Houston was awesome in college because he could be physical and push the receivers around, but he wont be allowed to do that at the pro level. And that means hes going to lose his best player trait. He'll have to completely change his style of play in order to succeed. I dont like those odds.
 
I would LOVE to get Houston at 9. I'd be extremely excited. From watching his highlight reels, to the combine, to Deion Sanders saying he will be the next shut down corner. I'm all for him.

Could be a very good player, but #9 is way to early for him.
 
You guys remember the last speedster from Arkansas??? His name is Amad Carroll and he was a complete bust...Stay away from Chris Houston....He may be good someday...But he has bust written all over him...
 
I think he might last until the late 1st, early 2nd. Kiper called him overrated the other day. Kiper's an idiot.

Brandon Meriwether is the same way, and everyone is going ga-ga over him. I'm not saying you are, just a general response to your description of Houston. You are absolutely right, the way they played in college isn't going to fly in the NFL, and their game could sufffer because of it.

While I see Houston doing better than Meriwether in the NFL, they may both struggle at first adjusting to the stricter rules.

I was watching one show, Path to the Draft on NFL Network if I remember correctly that had them talking about Meriwether and all the tape they showed was from the Senior Bowl practices and he always bumped and banged the WR all the way down field and the guy talking about the film had to keep going "well, you see there he was making contact and he won't be able to do that at the next level, but look how he broke up the pass" etc, except if it weren't for his contact all the way down the field he WOULDN'T have broken up the pass :shakeno:
 
I seem to recall reading on this site that Mueller likes speed. So, it takes Houston time to adapt @ CB.

I am all for a CB in the 1st round and exclusively Offense thereafter. I could live w/ Houston, Hall, or Revis (my preference of the 3) but it may be too early @ #9 for any of them.

Whether you like Houston or not, this is about the worst argument that could be made against him.
