If there weren't so many slow corners in this years draft, I would say let's draft a corner in both the 1st and 2nd round. Is it true that all of these guys are slower than Ronnie Brown?

Ronnie isn't a 4.3 guy anymore but ya, this years class ran phenomenally slow.
There have been rumors that there were problems with the electronic timers at the combine.
Draftscout.com has actually changed their official times from the former official combine times to the unofficial times.
Darius Butler is the shutdown corner the Dolphins are looking for. He ran well at the combine and also had a 43 inch vertical and a 11'2" broad jump; no timers involved in those events.
Butler is a fantstic athlete with fluidity and change of direction that is at times breathtaking.

CB is ridiculously overpaid in FA. i think we would be smart to pick at least one CB in the draft, preferrably two. i'm actually not so worried about the slow times. it's been reported on NFLN by Mayock that something was wrong with the electronic times.

How far has Victor "Macho" Harris fallen now that his 40 time was less than expected? Is he a 3rd rounder now?

Last year, we drafted two defensive ends high in Merling and Langford, and then even put a 7th on Dotson.

I would like to see us make a similar investment in corners. Not only do we need someone to play opposite Will Allen right now, we will need to groom another corner or two since 2009 is a contract year for W Allen and he is on the wrong side of 30.

I believe Ireland was quoted as saying that Parcells likes to draft in pairs, where he gets more than one person at a position to generate competition and a hedge that you may only have a 50% success rate on draft picks anyway.

I could see our 25th or 44 pick as a corner, as well as either a 3rd or fourth, AND a seventh.

Can Darius Butler make it to 25 or even 44? I thought Sean Smith was projected to go anywhere from 22 to 35 now that he ran a 4.47? In other words, I thought conventional wisdom is that Sean Smith won't make it to 44.

ive heard talk of sean smith being more suited for safety. but i still think even if true there would be nothing wrong with grabbing him. imo.

I think Ryan Mouton is going to be a sleeper steal this year.

He pulled his hammy on his 1st 40 attempt at the combine but was expected to have one of the best times.

He had a good career at Hawaii and also ran a few kicks back for TD's.

Because of what happened he may not get drafted but I would take him with our last 7th.

DJ Clark is another DB that I would spend a 7th on. Idaho ST. I think.
Small school guy with great numbers, fast with lots of interceptions.

Yep, I think 2 corners makes sense. If we could get Sean Smith or Darius Butler early and then supplement with a 3rd or 4th round corner, that would be a huge help to the defensive backfield. If we get a "smaller" corner like Butler early, then we could get a taller corner like the 6'1 Martin from Troy.

If we get the tall Sean Smith early, we could get a Macho Harris type in the 3rd or 4th. Harris may be slow but he is a football player. Its just a question of whether he just doesn't have minimal speed.

I really think Hakeem Nicks would be a great receiver to add tho. If we could get Darius Butler and Hakeem Nicks, that would be amazing. Nicks is exactly what this offense needs. I'd be willing to part with a 3rd to make that happen. Something like this:

1a Butler
1b low 20's trade up with 2a (44) and a 3rd for Nicks
2a traded up to 1b
2b Ron Brace NT
3 traded up
4. Macho Harris cb
5. Frantz Joseph ILB
7a. OT
7b RB
7c TE
