Drafting players based on football ability who have fallen on draft boards.

not my thread or homework to do. you're trying to make a point that we should look at falling players as value picks based on falling players that showed value last season. but you're not comparing and contrasting (or providing any further information) other than these guys fell last year, and these guys are falling this year. lets draft them! I think you have a "start" to a good possibly great thread, you just don't provide the final bits of information that would push it over that top.

Thank you for the critique

Star Lotulelei, Keenan Allen, Zach Ertz, Larry Warford, Menelik Watson, Arthur Brown, Jarvis Jones, Manti Teo, Eddie Lacy, Geno Smith & Tyrann Mathieu all became starterstheir first year.

Lotulelei, Allen, Warford, Lacy & Mathieu were all in contention for rookie of the year awards.

Andre Ellington, Cobi Hamilton, Khaseem Greene & Jordan Poyer all contributed.

When you look at Keenan Allen. At the end of the college year there were many threads about wanting him at #12. Then injury rumours and the combine dropped him to 3rd round, even though his medical issues were supposedly cleared before draft. Sounds very much like Cyrus Kouandijio this year.

Weren't Jamar Taylor and Jonathan Martin 2 more example of players whose stock dropped before the draft? I like your thinking but you still need to pick the right ones.

Taylor actually didn't fall, for the most part he rose to the point where fans thought he was a lock to the Pats in round 1, but then most fans didn't know about his kidney issue (which is no longer an issue).

It depends on why people fall. Some just have poor workouts interviews, some have legit injury/character concerns, some fall due to need, and some were just never valued that high.

I'm hearing mixed opinions on whether the kidneys are still an issue or not. I heard the drugs he has to take really mess with you and he may have to take them for life, like I said I don't know whats true and whats not but he might be a total wright-off.

Good shout!

I get your premise Norman but alot of this is just the process of teams working their info based on needs after FA and such. So things change but the biggest ones are the guys who were ranked in 1st or 2nd round and dont get drafted until late or not at all. Poyer was one last year but you hear injury stuff after the fact where the whole league knew but the media knew jack squat. Just goes to show teams are looking for the sucker to buy without beware.

It also shows none of us know jack squat. There will be good players at 50 and 81. I just bum when my guy is there and we pick someone else.

I do agree regarding injuries and hate it when a player I want is surprisingly available and we pass, especially for a 'reach' guy like Will Davis last year.

Players do fall though due to combine numbers and not riding the media hype. For example, Gabe Jackson. He has fallen due to a slow 40 and other OT's projected to be OG's having good 40's etc he was probably the best OG in football last year and was not expected to run a quick 40 but some are now projecting him low 2nd high 3rd. Reminds me of Larry Warford who the Lions took and many thought too early due to same reasons. He was outstanding last year.

I thought this was really interesting. Can you imagine back then the possibility of somehow getting both Alabama players with first two picks. I prefer Lee at no.1, as I think he had a lot of underlying issues at USC and I would like to see Jordan at OLB and Misi compete for ILB. Also if Lee plays very well it gives you the option to drop The Wallace contract 2015/2016.

Drafting both Jackson and Cyrus would be a total trainwreck for our system, I'd really hate it personally and it would be a head scratcher. No way Brandon Thomas is there in the 7th, I know it's the draft and the draft is hectic but he was a high 2nd round prospect before the injury. I like the look you're taking at it tho.

This is my pet theory, in drafting and life in general. Take advantage of value that shouldn't be there, other than recent altered opinion and attached idiocy.

You won't hit every one. But when you do connect, the payoffs are huge, far beyond a standard approach.
