Rookies Drew Mormino and Samson Satale lined up with the first team, Mormino at left guard in place of nine-year veteran Chris Liwienski and Satale at center in place of free-agent signee Johnathan Ingram.
Cameron said he and offensive line coach Hudson Houck thought the rookies could handle their roles.
"We just sensed that it wasn't going to be too big for them," Cameron said. "Are they going to be the starters? We don't know."

I think we all pretty much expect that Satele will be the starting center come opening day, but I think most of us though Mormino would need more development. This either means that the rookie has been impressive, or that the rest of the guys have not. It's obviously far too early to tell, but IMO this is a positive sign.

its good to see them get thrown in the fire theres no better d-line they can work against

It's only a positive sign if the kid can actually play. And since they haven't actually put the pads on or had any real substantial contact, to me it's just as likely that they don't have squat at LG as it is that he can start and play well.

From what I've seen on theese two OL I thought it would be the other way around. Mormino at center and Satele at LG. I like the move and hope it works out, a nice young line for years to come.

The only thing i don't like about that is that your going to put a rookie next to Vernon Carey when he's making a position switch so he'll have to worry about the guy next to him and learning the new position of LT.

Kind of have to trust that Hudson Houch knows what he is doing.

I don't think that Carey will have to worry about Mormino. And that's a good thing, because Carey will have his hands full at LT. That being said, I have high hopes for this line, and kudos to Cameron/Mueller/Houck for making all of these necessary adjustments.

The word on Mormino is, he is very smart, according to a few draft publications, of all the centers this year, he has the best intangibles (which is how well he can learn a playbook, and call out the plays). He is capable of learning playbooks very fast, and know what everyone should be doing on every play. He was the leader of his College O-line for a reason.

Not to down the rookies, but we have very little ahead of them so its hard to judge how good they are because our guards stink.

To temper the enthusiasm about Mormino at LG, he was replaced this morning after a false start in 2-on-2 drills.

false start, back to second team. They'll let him stew on that for a little while. Maybe that will motivate him to sign.

He and his agent probably understand that Miami thinks highly of him. His being the only late rounder not to have signed suggests he wants more money or a shorter contract.

Didn't college teammate OT Joe Staley say Mormino was the best lineman on their team?? I'm sure he will be just fine. He's a grinder!!!

Staley is an expert on linemen now.
