Drew Rosenhaus implies Flynn wasn't a "priority" for Fins

This was just so obvious all along. How can fans be so dense.

A 7th rd pick with a couple starts?? A priority worth big money?? That would be incredibly stupid.

Seattle overpaid, and Flynn will not start in front of Jackson; however, they may still draft a QB who will start.

I love how everyone assumed Philbin wanted Flynn all along just because he coached him in GB. Chances are he saw Flynn for what he was...... a backup QB who knew his system.

A bullet dodged, IMO.
Of the two, Smith is the better option so i think the staff have done well here, if they pull it off.

I'd really like to see them draft Tannehill too, but that wont happen. Russell Wilson would be a nice mid round fallback.

Hopefully Philbin knows Flynn is garbage. Matt Moore > Flynn/Smith. Draft a QB

Philbin knows Flynn better than anyone and that is the reason Miami didn't sign him

The only problem I have with this argument is if Flynn was garbage and we knew it, then why did we wast our time with bringing him down here for an interview and potential contract talks ??? Seems silly to do when you don't really think he's worth our while. Mmmm, could it be we got caught trying to get him on the cheap and he called us on it, and now we are covering ourselves???

Because they didn't want to seem desperate to Smith? Because they offered him a deal to be Moore's backup? Because maybe Sherman wanted to take a look at him before he agreed with Philbin that he wasn't the guy? Who knows? Imjust don't believe for ONE second that we swung and missed on Matt Flynn.

Flynn was a bit of a gamble no doubt time could prove us wrong, Smith was a bust for 4 years and new system he shines so what does that tell you when on top of that the 49ers's traded up in the draft last year and picked a rookie QB high in the draft. When you do that you basically have a plan of starting and playing that rookie. So niether QB is set to carry their team and Smith did not throw that many TDs last year either. So niether guy looks like he can carry a team. I personally am glad we did not go any further in the Manny sweepstakes your talking about one player who is going to tie up a ton of your cap space if he plays and he is one good hit away from that neck having another issue. He might be throwing the ball fine but how is his body going to take the pounding. He reminds me of Marinio after he tore his achile tendon he played well but was not the same and was on a downward spiral from that point forward in his career. As far as Clark and Crowder both guys are not super stars just decent players who got their feelings hurt because they were not valued as high as they thought they should. All this Ireland bashing really started after Ireland slipped in the draft when the kid he was interviewing mentioned his mother was a prostitute and his father a pimp. I have 2 thought on that basically most of you would think the same thing that Ireland said out loud and 2 why in the world would Dez Bryant or anyone admit that about their parents. Geezh who a little pride.

So you're saying we might have been interested and he may have been the answer for us, but only at the right price? See how silly that sounds?

Ireland made a big deal over the fact that we "had to upgrade" at the QB position. So he had to show that we were at least trying.

So the whole purpose of bringing in Flynn for a visit and contract talks was for P.R. purposes? And my theory is worse than yours, how?

Not only that but obviously terrible PR if we never intended on signing him. Makes it look like we swung and missed.

He was a FA QB so you bring him in and let him know he will have to earn the starters job and therefore be paid as such......he followed more money to Seattle.
