Drew Rosenhaus on his segment on CH.7 was asked if Jeremy Shockey would sign with the Fins and said he is not sure if Shockey would be a Miami Dolphin, but they are excited that the Fins have mutual interest in Shockey. Rosenhaus said Shockey was meeting the Panthers and other teams are interested who would like to remain undiclosed. Rosenhaus told Ch.7 that Shockey has a meeting scheduled with Ireland & Sparano soon. He ended the segment by saying that they are confident they will have a deal done soon with someone.

Rosenhaus saying Shockey will meet with Ireland & Sparano, almost gives it away that the Fins are the front runners. This would be his second meeting with Dolphins. Think it speaks volumes.

On a side note Omar Kelly has reported that Drew said Shockey has visits scheduled with other teams and that is false. Drew clearly said other teams were interested in Shockey, but mentioned nothing about visits.

My favorite Rosenhaus story:

The time he saved a child from drowning by performing CPR. Later on, it turns out, he was simply trying to suck the gold fillings from the child's mouth. :chuckle:

... Point being - the only people whose public statements are worth less than player agents, are front office personel this time of year.

Actually it will probably be the true first meeting with Sparano and Ireland since both have been up at the combine in INDY since last Wed. or Thurs. Same place all GMs and head coaches have been since last week. Thats why no visits are planned because no team is going to meet with him until after the combine and Shockey cannot go to INDY. Only teams VPs, agents and players invited to the combine are permitted in Indy during the week of the Combine.

As I said, this is the umpteenth Time Omar has sent out bogus crap. Not really sure why he is still employed. The only people who have visits scheduled with other teams is the draft prospects right now.

No offense my friend, but Shockey himself stated he was headed to Indy on ESPN and however you put it is his second meeting with the Dolphins. As for him not meeting with other teams he met with Carolina today, if other teams would be interested he could just as easily meet with them.

He can go to Indy anytime he wants but no deals can be made while GMS and Coaches are in Indy. No Agent can bring in his outside clients other then the ones he represents in the combine. So my friend, Shockey can go to Indy all he wants but the best he can do is shake Irelands or Sparanos hand and say he would like to be in Miami, thats it. If he met with Carolina then all it was is the same thing, Hi, I would like to play in Carolina or he met with some cap guy or some other coach in Carolina. Do not believe everything you read my friend. No deals get done in Indy, its the worst NO NO on the planet Earth.

I forget who it was, think a QB, was decent, did not get a combine invite a few years ago and he headed to Indy too. All he did was make the rounds saying hi to everyone he met asked them to have trust in him and such. Made some appearances in the press, was quoted. Honestly forget who it was but the kid did get himself drafted. Like I said, no contact in regards to negotiations is permitted in Indy but it is a free country and anyone that can afford a room and air fare can go and make the shake my hand rounds. :) Thats all Shockey did. As far as Drew ? the man would try to sell snake oil to a snake.

Listen and I have said it before. Outside of the homers for the U in Miami who want Shockey here, he is no different then many other TEs in this league that are on their decline for various reasons. I have no clue what they would do with him. Ross probably wants him because he thinks U fans will buy tickets to see him.:)

You seriously don't know what they would do with Shockey? How bout play him, that would be where I'd put my money down on a player were bringing in and paying. Even Shockey on the decline is better than what we currently have on our roster at TE, you can't seriously believe Fasano is better, can you??? In any event you "can say it" as many times as you want but it doesn't make it so and I doubt you'll have many followers on your beliefs. Miami needed a standout TE and hasn't had anyone decent in that position since letting McMichael go and before that Keith Jackson ( not stellar standouts but decent) and there's no one this year in the draft so Shockey would be an excellent stop gap for the next couple of years until we can find and land the right one. Tight ends are few and far between but with the right one can be a QB savior and a game changer and I'd take Shockey for now over anyone we currently have and definitely could see him being a huge asset in a 2 TE set.

And most any TE on the darn market is better then what we have as a backup. Shockey shot his load while at the U, loved his role there and he did it well and in NY. Since then Shockey is no better or worse then any TE that can be picked up for far less money. Add to that the guy has never played a full season in the NFL recently. Kind of tired paying large amounts of money for supposedly good talent and watch the back of their jerseys during games while they are on the bench or sideline. Also tired of seeing them in street clothes on game days.

Followers ? Dude, you think I am starting a cult or something ? No one can honestly say Shockey is better then Fasano other then let down U supporters who long for the day when the U is actually a football threat again.

we could draft a decent tightend but then we need to draft 2 oline, wide receiver, running back ,
quarterback maybe even a fullback as polite while great in short line situations last year polite didnt open up enough holes.
We need a better return specialist.. so even if we hit on all our picks not all holes will be filled unless we strike big in free agency..

Typical salesman gibberrish. Rosenhaus first came out saying how Shockey was so excited to become a Fin. Then it turned out he was more interested in becoming a Panther. Now there is undisclosed teams interested. Now he has a second meeting scheduled with our front office.

The question is which team is it they are trying to drive up the price for?

This whole other teams are interested BS is to make us pay more money if we want him. Give him a performance based contract and if he doesnt want to take it let him walk.

agree rosenhaus says he is a dolphin fan but he putS the dolphins in bad situations cAP WISE
aLWAYS OVERSELLING his players and trying to drive up value if jermeys last name was wolfowitz
we would pay half the price..
