Drew Stanton

he has good talent and good possible growth but he is injury prone and there is question marks as he likes to "sling it" sometimes. He would be a good 3rd orperhaps even 4th round pic kfor us if he is still there he is the 3rd best QB in the draft (kolb 4th, and smith 5th)

If he is there at 39(40?) then trade down and still snag him, you know Mueller will have an eye out for him. Get another 3rd rounder for day one.

I don't get it, what exactly is good about Stanton? They say as far as his college ball play he's inconsistent, has accuracy issues with the deep ball, average arm strength, and bad mechanics.

Also during the Senior bowl practices he really didn't show much of anything at all and yet still there are so many on here who want to draft him in 1st day. Is it because he's 6'3?

I agree, I think that Stanton is overrated. He threw too many picks at Michigan State, and really never led that team to anything. With that said, I still think he is a decent prospect. I think he will definitely be off the board by the fourth round. If he is still there when we pick in the third I would consider drafting him depeding on who else is still available, any sooner than that would be a mistake IMO.

Right now NFL Draft Countdown has him going 59th overall to the Eagles.

So with a decent combine, he could move ahead of Troy Smith to the early second or late first depending on his combine.

Because Smith sucked during the National Championship game and did not look much better at the Senior Bowl.

Look for Stanton to be this years Cutler, stock gorws every week.

If he's there in the 3rd I guess I'd take him based on potential, but no higher. He's way too inconsistent.

He's a second rounder at best and that's just based on pure physical characteristics, but he does have injury concerns, and he will definitely need to be coached up a lot to have any chance in the league.
Have you watched Drew Stanton this season? Obviously you have! Finally.

I would be VERY happy with Drew Stanton in the 2nd round. He will need to be groomed for a year or two, but he will make a very good NFL starter one day, IMO.

Stanton is becoming the Cutler of this draft guarentee it

Except that:

-Cutler's stock shot up after the Senior Bowl. Stanton impressed at times, but was also inconsistent and didn't have the week Cutler did last year.

-Stanton also had a very inconsistent senior year, which wasn't necessarily true of Cutler.

Stanton has great tools, probably more so than anyone not named Quinn or Russell, but he's still inconsistent enough to scare some teams away.

um, you would be wrong. Cutlers stock went up before the senior bowl and went further after the combines. Everybody was talking about how he did all those benchpresses and how Vince Young got a 16 on the wonderlic. He was not that good in the Senior bowl. Which brings me back to Stanton, he was not great either, but was not bad and lead the North for a TD (like Cutler eventually did). Stanton showed leadership and was the guy that Dick Vermiel said opened his eyes up the most the whole week of practice.

So those who would say Stanton is no more than a 3rd rounder, might be shooting their wad too soon, because its early and coaches who watched these kids all week know some different things that we know. Alot of variable have to be looked at in order to judge a QB correctly, like what school and coaching they came from and who was their competition.

Stanton

The guy is injury prone. knee and leg problems. You guys want that in the
second round? cmon!
