Other than quick TD strikes on defense, dropped balls have been our Achilles heel this year. Its still strange to me that Ginn and Bess are dropping balls so frequently considering they weren't known for this sort of thing until this year.

I'm not trying to make excuses for either of them because there have been 3-4 every game that they should have caught, however does anyone think that Henne's arm strength might be part of the reason here? Other than Camarillo, every receiver has dropped a couple of easily catchable balls this year. Does no one else find this strange? Also, this seems to have started when Henne took over.

Perhaps our WRs are used to catching Pennington balls which reach there target much later than Henne's. What do you think?

Its probably true to a certain extent. But these dudes are making millions of dollars. Make the adjustment.

Maybe, but you would think that kind of thing would improve each week. So far it has gotten worse. They need to firgure it out in a hurry.

I remember Marino would have a few of those drops where they would just bouce of the reciever because they were a little too hot to handle. Those recievers got the message real quick though that it was unacceptable.

Maybe some truth to that. But on the flip side, its concerning that our receivers who are supposed to be NFL receivers can't adjust to the velocity of a football and catch it.

I can see what you're saying about the dropped balls when henne took over..but only for Bess. Ginn still dropped passes when penny was at the helm.

I met Antonio Freeman back in the early 00's and his fingures where so badly mangled from catching passes from Favre. Our recievers need to take some lessons. IMO we need to bring in a vet to teach these guys what playing WR in the NFL is all about. And we need to draft a WR early who has the potential to be #1 WR in the NFL.

I seen this in the preseason, and then again when Henne took over in SD. Outside of Ginn this argument has some truth to it IMO.

Someone asked me in a PM on this website what I thought about Henne. And I said I seen Henne trying to be Penny 'lite' in Preseason and SD. And I also seen the WR's having to learn how to go from a CHANGE UP thrower to a 100mph FASTBALL thrower. I stand by that assessment today. These WR's get hit in the hands and some how some think here that Henne is throwing it to hard. I would have loved to hear that about Farve and Elway when they first came out. Anyone see the WR hands of people that played with Farve and Elway....from all the dislocations there nubs look terrible.

I see the perspective , but i have to disagree. Marino's arm was strong as hell and they caught the ball.

Ginn catches the ball just fine with his white gloves on.

Here's another perspective for everyone.

Henne has a cannon and this can lead to some of the drops. It's not an excuse for the drops but maybe part of the reason. He may need to put a little "touch" on some of his passes.

Here's the good part of the rocket arm. How many times did the pats DB's jump the comeback route yesterday? I can remember 3 without checking the tape. How many picks did they have. Zero. If Bess and Co. aren't catching the balls at least the other teams are dropping them too.

I totally agree with this assesment. Harrington on top of all his other issues threw balls that the recievers just seemed to drop. In the Chambers era and our huge rotation of QBs over the years you could see it pretty well. A WR would go from consistent to inconsistent based on who was throwing the ball. The best QB that worked for us in terms of recievers catching the ball was Gus Ferotte.

Perfect example is Mike Vick and Matt Ryan.

Then I guess they must drop balls all practise long too then, so now it's the QB's fault?

I understand here or there but the amount of drops are more of a talent problem then a rocket arm of the QB.
