I have no idea how many of you have noticed but the past couple games we had some dropped INT's. Its driving me (profanity)nuts and its not one player its all our players. I understand the saying "thats why they play defense" but c'mon. We have had several opportunities to turn the game around and avoid points being given up but we drop the ball. I know our secondary isnt good..i wouldnt even say we're average. But c'mon you're a grown (profanity) man, keep your eye on the ball and grab it with two hands!!!

Ex: If bell turns his head and puts two hands out for the ball A. Johnson doesnt make ESPN highlight reels and we win that game.

it's definitely no secret that our secondary sux,i'm hopeful that'll be addressed in the next offseason...

I agree with you but there is no excuse for a dropped ball on offense or defense. Our secondary isnt very good, shoot right now i'd take USC's secondary instead of ours but there isnt a reason for us to (profanity) football 101 basics and make us look even worse.

Dropped interceptions and a general lack of ball skills has been a major achilles heel for this team.

Makes me long for the days of Madison, Surtain, Marion, and Walker. In 2000, those four guys combined for a ridiculous 22 interceptions!

thats why these guys are playing defense, they can't grab their (profanity) with either hand!:(

I don't fault Bell. The guys is a major success story in this secondary. YEs, he's made some mistakes but he's also made plays all over the field and has been a hairs breadth away from more plays. He's the one guy I like in the secondary, despite the AJ play.

i still dont understand how not 1 of the 3 DB on 1 WR 40 yards downfield wern'et able to jump, be in position to move their upper body or hands, or evne see wehre the ball is yet hte WR was able to touch the ball. i was abotu to throw up.

i think with help at CB and FS he could have been a pro bowl type S cuz then all he woudl have to do is play the ball when he ocmes to help out instead of playing the WR as a CB b/c the CB himself wasnt able to do so.

I couldn't agree with you more. It not just the ints but the total lack of positioning and ball skils when the ball is in the air.

I definitely agree with you in terms of Bell's playmaking ability, but sadly, pulling down interceptions is not one of his strong suits.

He has just one in his career.

That said, I agree that he's the one guy we should keep (still on the fence regarding Will Allen because he also has stone hands but is pretty dependable in coverage and is a solid tackler).

sorry to disagree with you some of you but I think Bell is average and only looks good because of how terrible the rest of our secondary is

One of my posts that stands out in my mind is a reply to somone who predicted Allen's INT total the year we picked him up. I quoted Allen's career stats.....I think 3 was his max and asked what made him think Allen was going to exceed his career INT stats in one season. The guy has stone hands but he CAN cover. He's just not a ball hawk. Niether is Bell. Bell can make plays though. They may not be glorious, but a sure tackle on a swing pass that limits the play to one or two yards is a good play.

You don't have to be sorry. Bell is average, or just above in terms of his peers, but, somtimes all your guys aren't going to be world beaters. Right now? I'll take average.

Totally agreed, though I feel like a strong safety with bad ball skills is a less of a liability than a cornerback with bad ball skills.

Ultimately, I think that both are serviceable starters, but I'm not sure that either will ever be a Pro Bowler. Interceptions are to DBs what touchdown runs are to running backs.
