This is my first post and I want to first thank this web site for the insight into the 2005 Fins, especially the camp reporters with their detailed analysis. It's great to get a preseason Fin fix out here where otherwise I'm stuck with Plummer, Elway, blah, blah, blah.

I know there has been a lot of discussion on how well our season goes with the OL, QB, secondary, etc play. Maybe this has been covered here previously when it was first announced but I just took a good look at our schedule and have to wonder if Ricky gave his stash to the league schedule makers. I mean c'mon. Take a look at the back end starting in mid-November:

11/13 Patriots at home; 11/20 travel up to Cleveland; 11/27 cross-country to Oakland; 12/4 back cross-country Buffalo at home; 12/11 all the way back across the country to San Diego; 12/18 all the way back across the country to Miami for Jets.

Maybe somebody can explain, but I thought teams strength of schedule was based on previous seasons record? Besides playing in arguably the best division we also get to make 4 cross-country journeys in as many weeks?

I don't think I can blame them for an end of season collapse this year. There should be an investigation because this has got to be some kind of Frequent Flyer Mile-gate going on here. Don't mean to be a whiner, but that's brutal.

It comes with having a 2 and 14 record. Its not called the bottom of the heap for nothing. Its the kind of crap you aregoing to see when you had the record the Fins did last year!

p.s. wecome to the site!

Thanks for the schedule link, I had no idea. Thought they were year to year. Looks like it will be 2008 before I'll have a chance to see the Fins at Mile High again. Really thought they would pull it off last year and loved being there for the Sunday night game they pulled off in the the last minute the year before. Am always impressed by the number of Fin fans that show up out here.

Don't feel bad. I have to wait until 2009 for the Phins to play the Panthers here.

They actually had a pretty good schedule last year. There were no late season cold weather games at all, if I recall correctly, and the league allowed them to play on the road in Seattle and SF back to back.

Too bad last year's team happened, though. That was the one time the schedule gods seemed kind to the Fins.

i feel sry for you guys i get to see the phins everyyear living next to mass. but everytime i go to see them at gillette stadium we lose hopefully it ends this year i was there for the game where we lost in OT because our coach (wanny)at the timecouldnt coach the last 5 min of a game to save his arse and the pats came back to beat us and knock us out of the playoffs and then the next year we lost that horrible cold and snowy game 13-0 where i got pegged by hundreds of snowballs and this last year wehere we made it to the redzone like 5 times without getting any scores.... but in the saban era this will change....

Well, we were 4-12 so I don't know if the 2-14 thing applies. I suppose we could look at the Niners schedule and find out though...

I didn't realize that we had that many cross country trips. That does seem rather odd. Plus, we have the hardest S.O.S. than anyone else in the league based on last year's stats. That hardly seems fair for a team with the second worst record last year either. Oh well, those are the breaks.

NASCAR shook up the sport with the chase. It's a huge scoring and media improvement. The NFL should do a complete regional realignment. Saves money and fuels local competition.

Something they might have to consider given rising fuel costs.

NASCAR broke from tradition, they made a huge change to scoring the sport and winning a championship. The NFL has years of tradition and existing rivalries. Change doesn't come easy for the big sports. If the divisions were realigned, out west I might get:

San Diego Chargers
Arizona Cardinals
San Francisco 49ers
Oakland Raiders

you might get:

Miami Dolphins
Jacksonville Jaguars
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Atlanta Falcons

Plus you would play outside of your division. It'll never happen.

I hate th idea of the regional realignment. It screws us fans on the west coast. They proposed a very similar thing with baseball about ten years ago where the A's, Giants, Padres, Angels, Dodgers, Mariners, Rockies, and I think Toronto would all be in the same division and they would all play each some ungodly amount of times and meanwhile, teams like the Yankees would oonly visit once evry 5,6 years.

It was shot down immediately. You have to have your teams on a schedule where they rotate similar to what they have now. It makes for interesting matchups and allows fans of crappy teams to come to the park and see a team like New England, Philly or what have you.
