DT and CB before the draft is a must

I think we're off to the draft at this point unless a real bargain becomes available ........after the draft they'll look at the June cuts to add a couple of players but right now we just don’t have the cap space for anything else unless they re do some deals which I hope they don’t

Did you sleep through the day they signed Daniels?

Lol, yup. Our big signing was a guy coming back from an Achilles tear where he is going to be forced to pull and get to the 2nd level more then he ever had in his career?

Yup, sure does inspire confidence.

Simple question, does Miami still need to address a starting Guard or not. So again, the position still needs to be addressed.

Ramsey on one boundary and Kohou (where he belongs) in the slot give us two starters. If the team believes that one of the 4 or 5 young guys is good enough, we may roll with what we have here.

Am I convinced? No, but I'm not going to rule it out either. I will say that the results that you tend to get from mid-career FA CBs isn't particularly encouraging. Would there be much of a difference between Cam Smith/Ethan Bonner/Storm Duck and a fading, probably injured vet? I'm not sure that there would be.

Will Johnson is looking like he may fall to us, and he's my favourite CB in this draft, so there's that.

Now... I'm 100% in agreement that we need another FA D-lineman... probably two,

Will Johnson in the first and a trade up for Zabel or Donovan Jackson would be pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good.

Oh I totally agree with you. It’s been a disastrous FA and the roster is a complete joke right now. It’s just you claimed the only hole they’d filled was backup QB whereas for me pretty much the only move worth a damn was Daniels and you completely missed that out from your review. They used to have a hole at both guard positions, now they only have one. We’re still pretty much screwed though.

Gotcha, fair enough.

I don’t think corner is SO bad provided we get better at every other level - haha.

I mean that seemingly sounds like a dumb statement, but we have at least one VERY GOOD starting corner and arguable if KK is a good #3 or not. The cupboard is not bare.

We are pretty bare on the DL and S… which to me are both areas that need more attention on the defense than CB (if I had to choose).
Not to sound like a pessimist, but both the defensive line and secondary need a lot of work.

It's really only Seiler and Robinson on the defensive line with the hope that Chubb and Phillips come back.

Besides Ramsey, who isn't a young player, that's about the only certainty in the secondary.

Have to think early picks are spent on defense line and secondary players.

Yes I agree with your concerns with both the secondary and defensive line. The problem is they have too many holes and not enough picks to fill them all. I don't trust Grier's ability to find average starters outside the first 2 rounds.

Still have major holes at OG, DT, CB, S and DE. Plus question marks at both OT spots, with Armstead's status unknown, no idea how Paul is going work out as a full time starter and Jackson coming back after missing most of the 2024 season. James Daniels also trying to return after missing most of the 2024 season with an Achilles injury.

Right now they have no quality swing OT and below average depth at OG and C. Also need better depth at several other positions. A lot of question marks all over the roster.

You think getting a #2/3 CB is more important than finding our starting LG? Or you think that R3 guard will be good enough to start?

Same question about going safety at #98… good enough to start?

If it’s an easy as everyone projects with getting guards and safety’s late… why isn’t every team littered with guards?

Guard is actually the position you can sign old effective guys on decent contracts for 2yr deals… why is this so hard for Miami, though?
Yes this is one of the deepest trench drafts in a long time. Can absolutely find a OG and DT in the 2nd and 3rd. S isnt as big of a need as you may think, we currently have 2 starters and safeties are easy to find in the mid rounds

Artie Burns is a UFA. Former 1st rounder, with consistently good coverage grades, and he's a Miami native. Maybe get him for not much more than vet minimum.

Well we have a rotational safety from the jets and then the guy from the lions who doesn’t stay healthy… so even if he is “starter” quality… who’s starting after his probable injury?

Unless you’re thinking McMorris is a starter?

We need one more starting quality player at safety.
