First do we have a need at DT in free agency? Secondly who is available?

What does the rest of that line stack up like? Do you think we are covered against the run as we brought back Hayse?

I've thought about this a lot and I'm kinda in the camp that we are ok at DT.

Godchaux, Taylor and Philips are a pretty solid tandem.
Not sure managment would agree.
Don' think Phillips has shown enough just yet and the other 2 are only second year players that were not used enough last year to know just what we have .
I believe a vet comes in either before the draft or during cuts in August. Also I can see us drafting one early first or second round.
That' a giant hole we created when we cut Suh are LB were bad when Suh was getting doubled, what will happen to the Lbs now there is no Suh

We have obvious holes at lb and te and 3 serviceable dts. My guess is that a dt is taken at 11 or 42 leaving one of those 2 positions weak for this season.p if we don’t sign one of these guys.

I sure hope you are right, but I don't think we are.

Phillips simply can't play too many snaps, and disappears for long periods of time even when he is in the game. Godchaeux made a minimal impact vs the pass and was poor vs the run, and all of that was while constantly getting single-teamed because Suh commanded all of the double-teams. Vincent, whose skill set I like, hasn't shown flashes nor was he good enough to displace Godchauex.

My guess is that we draft someone, perhaps Vita Vea, who is a heck of a player. Personally, I'd like him or Andrew Brown if he makes it to round 3 or so. But this is a deep class for DT's, so I expect at least one drafted.

That FA group is not very impressive, IMHO, so I can definitaly see why you are not impressed with them.

Not very comfortable with Phillips health; he seems to get nicked up somewhat frequently. What happens if one of the three goes down. If we do draft a player, I would prefer in the 4th round or later. Someone with raw talent & size who can be stashed in the practice squad and brought up if someone goes down.

If we don't sign a vet DT that tells me we'll definitely add one in the draft, possibly with the 11th selection. I would hate that, but it could happen.

We can use a veteran DT for sure. We have 3 young guys that did a decent job last year and I hope they improve on that but you need 4 guys to rotate, specially in that Miami heat and I don't want to draft one at 11. If we don't get a DT in free agency then I think round 4 could be the time to get one

Ozzy rules!!

Maybe just me but IMHO we need that push up the middle if we are to overtake NE. Buf. and Jets. Pressure Tom and these new QB's. I think we will need a strong presence there. Is Hankins signable at this point? Very little left in FA. and I know most want LB FS or TE at #11. Can we still get that physical presence in later RND's. Who would fit our DL scheme best at #4 or5? Maybe we should look DT earlier if one is BPA at #11 or 42. I am going to check out Sid"s DT prospects as I think he is a very good evaluator of talent. Thoughts.
