I'm watching this video and wondering how Duke Robinson slid to the 5th round. Granted, these are highlights, but I keyed on him in the championship game and liked what I saw- Loadholt, too. And Harvin dominating on 3/4 of an ankle and Tebow as well. BTW, I think that the Vikings drafted not only Harvin but were able to land Loadholt- nice.

As to Robinson's character issues, I don't know what they are. When I look at him I see a classic mauler who finishes plays. Best guess- he'll be a 5th rd steal, much like Carl Nicks last year for the Saints. Nalbone better be good- we passed on TJ Lang, Robinson and Jamon Meredith to take him. I don't even know that Nalbone will be better than FA Jared Bronson.

I was not terribly impressed with Robinson in the Championship game. Overall though, I still am. It was said that he was out of shape, and didn't seem motivated to play football which is why he slid. I have been on Panthers messageboards, and they don't have much bad to say about the guy. I think he'll wind up being a huge steal for them.

I made a point of watching him that game and he seemed fine to me, imposing size and very physical. From what I saw he was controlling his piece of the LOS. I had no problem with what I saw- maybe we saw different plays. Hindsite is 20/20, but last year I wanted Nicks- great oversized OT candidate who could maul and move, worst case scenario slide him in to OG for almost a sure thing. Actually he seems like a RT in the Vernon Carey mold. His character didn't seem that bad to me, a couple of relatively minor issues if I recall correctly. He was impressive enough early last year that the Saints dumped previous 3rd rd pick Andy Alleman- not nearly the player that Nicks is. I had hopes for Alleman, but I haven't seen much at all from him yet. Career backup at best for us I'm guessing.

I was also extremely high on Carl Nicks....loved the way he looked in drills at the combine as well...

BTW....everyone screaming for Brandon Spikes should also watch that NC game again....and you'll see why I think Rolando McClain is going to be the better NFL linebacker....Spikes can be blown out in the run game....

McClain...not so much...

Would much rather have drafted Robinson than Pat White, Brian Hartline Chris Cleomons or John Nalbone

i had nicks with a high 2nd round grade prior to the draft last year and i like the comparisons to vernon carey. he was a 5th round steal no doubt. i had him at #32 if we didn't go tackle at #1 overall.

i also like duke robinson and felt at worst he was a late 2nd round talent. personally, i thought he was the top rated run blocking guard in the draft.

another absolute steal was jamon meredith in the 5th. i think he has the potential to be one of the top tackles in this entire draft and showed excellent footwork and athleticism at the combine. a much better athlete than i thought going in to the combine.

john nalbone... meh

what's micah johnson weigh??? he looks a little short and stocky.

Obviously, for whatever reason, he was off half the leagues draft boards.

Robinson's character issues compared to Nalbore lack of experience Robinsion's characters issues win out. Robinson talent and college production win out over Nalbone and Brian Hartline for that matter. If you want a Brian Harline trade down in the round pick the guy later. Halbone would have been available at the top of the 7th where we picked Folsom. Folsom would have been available with our 2nd 7th round pick we gave to KC or if we had gotten a extra pick for trading down in the 4th with Harline we could have used that extra pick there. Regarless you gamble a bit in the 5th round when a talent like Robinison is there. Lets face it there is a need on OL that we have espeically in the interior. All 3 of our interior linemen projected starters are injure prone. This is a need position for us. Nalbone was a luxury pick we have decent TE's.

I really wish we would have got him so he could have played RG for us i think he would have been a beast over there

He is 6'2" 256lbs.

Facts are facts......who would have been available, and where, will forever be a mistery....All we know is that players slide for a reason, and they slide for EVERYBODY....Now, a select few, use that chip to prove everybody wrong (Nicks, for now) and play their butts off.....But, on the other hand, you hear about players like Gholston (taking plays off), and they prove some scouts and GMs right...It a crapshoot though, and me, personally, wouldve picked Duke with our 3rd probably and Jamon Meredith with our 4th.....but what do I know, I dont have 1% the info our FOffice has on these players....
