Dumbfounded by all the Tanny hate

In all my years as a Dolphin fan (30+ years) I've never been as confused by fan reaction to a player like I'm seeing with Tannehill right now.

I realize pocket presence and the and the deep ball are things that need continued improvement but I still think he's far from a finished product. With a QB this young without a ton of college snaps, you want to see continued improvement. So far in 2013, some things I consider as measured improvement:

-An increase of completion percentage of nearly 4%
-9 pass plays of 40+ yards with 4 games to go (3 last year)
-Averaging over 55 more passing yards per game than 2012
-At his current average, will surpass last years yardage mark by nearly 900 yards!
-Has surpassed last years TD mark by 5 with 4 games left

Ints haven't improved so I will throw that in with the deep ball and pocket presence as areas of concern but can't anybody else see the huge strides he has made in every other area? I don't have a vested interest in Tanny. When he was drafted I hoped for the best like everybody else but by no means felt he was a slam dunk. I'm totally stunned by those already certain Tanny sucks and can't improve. I feel like every single measurable is showing the exact opposite.

Ive looked at all the negatives to try and see things from the anti-Tanny side but I'm just not buying into it. There's just too much improvement to abandon ship.

At least you acknowledge the deep ball placement. My only knock on the kid besides early pocket awareness. The later has been getting better.

I've already invested in 2 Tannehill jerseys, I don't really wanna have to buy another QBs jersey for awhile. Seeing how he's the only other QBs jersey I have besides Marino. :D

Tannehill will be the Qb for the Dolphins for the next 5 years minimal
would like to see him be more aggressive with the deep ball.
would like to see quicker decisions - will come with time.
Would like to see more fire -- get in the ass of teammates.
would like to see more completed drives, score Td's and they win 2 more games this year.
but he has been an upgrade over the past Qb's and it is good not having a new Qb every year

I agree that Tannehill demonstrates better skills than last year. While those that criticize have legitimate concerns, I see the kid climbing the learning curve. I support him completely at this point. Finally, I still yell at the screen when he pulls another bonehead or foolish move. Just less frequently than before.

Also, if you look back at all of his interceptions many are just fluke or end of game hail mary passes. He is continually getting better. Even in the past few weeks his pocket presence and running have gotten better.

I think he has had 3 or 4 picks that were really not his fault. But you could say that about all qbs.

I think everybody can agree his pocket awareness has improved dramatically since the first half of this season. I'd like to see him finish more drives as well but I don't put that all on him. For instance, I put the 4th and goal failure today on Sherman. Lining up in the gun and throwing a fade? Why not call a rollout with a run/pass option with one of the most mobile QB's in the league? Hell, a simple handoff would have been a better play call from the 1.

Bottom line, there's an outside chance Tanny will throw for 1,000 more yards than his rookie year and will most likely throw around 10+ more TD's. I think those are great strides. Give the kid a semblance of an Oline next year and let's see if the improvement continues.
