Did Dwayne Bowe really run a 4.45 at his pro day? If that's the case can we put him right up there with Ted Ginn or even ahead of him? Is #9 a big reach for Bowe? With the way that he dominated at the Senior Bowl and 4.45 speed, I'm not so sure.

So many question marks- no Welker, Chambers is an underperforming enigma, Hagan has potential but is no sure thing yet (especially in the hands dept.), and Booker is solid but unspectacular. So the question is what to do. Gaines Adams and Patrick Willis look awfully tempting, but I keep going back to OL, WR, and of course QB. If we don't trade up for Quinn, take Levi Brown, or trade down, I wonder how much of a reach Bowe would be at #9, an alpha dog, big, dominating receiver who just supposedly ripped off a 4.45. I'm not so sure.

WR Dwayne Bowe 6’2 221 4.45 LSU

"I am going to get ripped on this pick, but I believe with Bowe running in the 4.4’s that he is the second best receiver in this draft. They already got burned with a one dimensional receiver in Williamson which is why they bypass Ted Ginn. Bowe is the complete package at receiver. They could trade down a few spots and get him as well."

Dwayne isn't a true flanker, so he's less likely to be a target. I think he's a 4.5 guy and that pro day time probably flatters him a tad. But he's a very good player.

Boomer, getting to the heart of the matter, how much confidence to you have in Chambers assuming that he moves back to the slot? What about Hagan?

Jim, I think Chris is what he is: an enigma. His career has followed the exact same path in Miami as it did at Wisconsin; spectacular plays, followed by great swathes of inconsistency. Really and truly, save for that Buffalo game in 2005, when has he actually taken over a game? I think if he plays from the slot, it offers Miami match up opportunities for him to make plays againt nickel backs or, if teams move their best cover guy from the strong side to cover him, then that leaves an opportunity on the outside for the flanker.

Derek, is very similar in that what he did last year mirrored what he did in college; drop easy catches. I think he needs work, repetition hour after hour to catch the ball better and to up the concentration level. I think he can develop into a decent starting split end, but he as I say, he needs to ratchet up that consistency level.

I would have no problem trading down and drafting him, but I think that nine is a little too high for him. I think he is a great prospect, probably the second or third best receiver in this class, but not worthy of a top ten pick. If we could trade down and get our choice of Bowe, Meachem, Staley or Kalil, I'd be pretty happy with that.

Bowe's times in the 40 at his Pro Day were 4.40 and 4.49 and had a 10'1" broad jump and a 37 1/2" vertical.

Agreed on all fronts Boomer. My personal feeling is that we'd be better off without Chambers and spending his money elsewhere. There's just something about him, Buffalo game aside, that I find unreliable to a fault.

The more I see of the Brady Quinn highlights, the more I like him. I think that you're feelings regarding Dwayne Jarrett are stronger than my own, but I would prefer a receiver a la Jarrett or Bowe with size, positioning skills, and hands over Chambers. Obviously the speed factor is big with Jarrett, and we sure could use some wheels at WR, especially flanker.

If we could have Hagan outside at flanker and Bowe or Jarrett inside I would be happy with that- I know that you disagree, but I see a red zone terror in him. Another option, maybe a better one, would be Steve Smith or Sidney Rice at #40. In short, I'm kind of done with Chambers, I imagine that this year is his last shot. If we could trade #9, #60 and next year's #2 for Quinn (maybe Chambers included?) and get a quality OL or WR at #40 I'd be thrilled with that.

Jim, I think Chambers is on notice. You'll see that Mueller didn't choose to restructure his contract, making him more difficult to deal. Unless he provides consistent play and lives up to a) his billing and b) his inflated salary, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us move him. Now, with that in mind, THERE'S a scenario where I could envisage drafting Dwayne Jarrett; if you think Chambers won't fulfil that potential, then you could look at a much cheaper replacement that you might just be able to get in R2. If CC turns it on, then you still have a commodity that people will have an interest in, in Jarrett, if you so choose and we've all seen that Randy and Cam will make a deal.

Don't get me wrong. I don't dislike Jarrett. And I like Bowe a lot. I try and make people aware of how they relate to Miami specifically. I just don't believe at this point, knowing what I do about how he plays coverages, his work ethic, his blocking and his route running, that he's a more viable option than say a Buster Davis or a Steve Smith, etc. I look at his body or work and his hands, ability to find the endzone, to shield defenders and to work after the catch is excellent.

I too am a big Brady Quinn fan and think he would be an outstanding pick for us. I also like Sidney Rice, although I think he needs a lot of weight work on that frame. His refusal to lift for coaches at the SC Pro Day was a bad decision and his lack of strength might be an issue. But you can't fault his hands, his long striding ability and his ability to get open.

One final point......I don't see Hagan playing flanker anytime soon.

That's tough to disagree with. They all sound good- I've seen Staley play on ESPN, and he looked pretty darn good, but then you have to enter the competition factor. I think that he ran a 4.78 or something like that recently (pro day/combine). Speed obviously isn't everything at LT, but that guy can move. His feet looked really quick, too. I would guess that the biggest risk would be with Staley, but they all seem like good choices in a trade down.

Bowe ran a 4.40? Wow, that is impressive. I didn't know that he had those kind of wheels.

Hagan is a 4.45 guy- he couldn't handle the flanker position? I'm a little slow on this one, please explain. I have big hopes for him- I'm rooting for him to make some serious progress on the hands issue that you raised.

Well it depends on your definition of "taken over" as he only got around 100 yards but he was spectacular in that 2003 turkey game against the cowboys. 3 TDS I believe it was but they were great yards after the catch type plays he made that day.

I do agree he needs to be more consistent and productive, which I want him to be he's my favorite player on the team but I'm not blinded to those facts.

Good point, the Dallas game was another.

But considering how much he gets talked up, he's a disappointment.

I really like the way Bowe plays. Wouldn't mind him at 9, but would prefer trading down a bit to get him. He plays tough football.

His two Combine runs were 4.46 and 4.48. To be honest, I don't think he plays that quick and I just think his skill set is more suited to the weakside of the field.
