ESPN’s Adam Schefter announced that the Chiefs are willing to trade star wide receiver Dwayne Bowe.

"If a team out there made a good offer for Bowe, he would be gone tomorrow” Adam Schefter told ESPN on Thursday. Schefter would also go on to add that “Like I said, outside of [Matt] Cassel and [Tyson] Jackson, there’s no Chief who can’t be had for the right price. New regimes like their own players; this is not something new to Haley and Scott Pioli. This is a universal truth.”

According to this report, the Chiefs are willing to move anyone outside of Cassel or Jackson, for the right price. Quite a bold statement by the new HC and GM for the Chiefs. Partially some were worried that Pioli and/or Haley were looking to just get more picks in an attempt to re-build and Bowe is being punished, but a further look into it shows that Bowe’s actually been rather injured lately. Bowe’s teammate Derrick Johnson has been said to have been taking some time off lately in practice due to injury(which I’ve just heard is officially ruling Johnson as “out” for sunday’s game against the Eagles)

I’ll be honest, I don’t know what Piolo or Haley expect to get from any team for Bowe. Bowe is widely considering a top 10 WR in the league, but his value is going to be a 1st+ (probably meaning 1st and 3rd round picks.) To a Chiefs fan, that looks like great value right? Unfortunately, that may not be the case. Remember this, Bowe was a 1st round pick(23rd overall) just 3 years ago. What if Bowe is traded for a 1st and (let’s say 3rd, in 2010) to a team like the Colts(who desperately need a WR to help out in the offense set they run.) The problem now is, Bowe is going to be traded to a team that is giving up practically the same value the Chiefs did in the first place, and really getting nothing more out of it. Had Bowe been a 3rd rounder, the 1st round pick with be a sure plus, but with him being a first, they aren’t getting great value in return.

So to take a closer look, imagine this. Chiefs do make the deal and get a 1st and 3rd from someone who has a late round pick. All they essentially do, is trade a proven, top WR, for an unproven rookie at an unknown position, who could end up being a bust. Let’s also not forget that the Chiefs WR set is not exactly deep with talent. If your WR depth chart reads “Bobby Wade #1, MArk Bradley #2, and Bobby Engram #3″… You might as well call it a season.

If anything, Bowe should be one of the 2 the Chiefs can not trade. Bowe is everything you want in a WR. He’s got the good game speed, his strength as an athlete and WR is phenomenial. He displays very soft hands, has a great vertical, and his route running is as good as your going to get. One thing he possesses that few WR’s do, is he is clutch. When it comes down to the wire, Bowe knows how to finish his routes, and make key plays (as many saw him do late in the 4th quarter sunday against the Raiders.)

Right now there is no official word of who’s offered for Bowe, or if he will get traded. All that is known right now is the Chiefs are more than happy to put his name out their for discussion and willing to take offers for the former 1st rounder.

Sorry if there was already a thread about this but I think he should be given a long hard look.

Of course, we can't be giving away high 2010 draft picks now that it looks like we could be heading for a top 10 pick but Bowe is exaclty the kind of WR we need; the anti-Ginn.

I wonder if they would take Ginn for Bowe? I guess not if they're looking for 1st-and-3rd-round-pick-value but it wouldn't hurt to make the offer. Maybe Tuna can get a family discount from his son-in-law Pioli.

If not, I'd go as high as offering Ronnie Brown for Dwayne Bowe! Larry Johnson is pretty much finished and KC's head coach is down on their young RB Jamal Charles so maybe Ronnie could be their future runner. It would be a lot easier for us to replace Ronnie than to find a true #1 WR.

WE NEED HIM.

Our best receiver is Davon Bess. I love Davon Bess, he works very hard, and he fights for every inch of extra yards after the catch, he doesn't drop balls...

but he is our #1 receiver and that's bad.

Of all the posts I've read, this one is the most concise and correct. Bess is our best reciever for those very reasons. Ginn doesn't want to be a receiver, he wants to be a track star.

I think Dwayne Bowe would be a HUGE addition.

the way we are sputtering on pass defense and in the red zone our 1st pick might be in the top 5...I would have never guessed our terrible start this year...Indy game is going to haunt us all year...

As far as this ^^^ however. They would have to be dumber than us to take Ginn for Bowe.

Ronnie Brown, our best player, for an unproven WR? There is no way, in any universe that would be a decent trade.

EASY TO REPLACE RONNIE? How many 230 lb. running backs with quick feet, 4.3 speed, and POWER do you see? Which college football are you watching????

Get Him! Get Him! Get Him! Get Him! Get Him! Please just make a gutsy call and get him!

I'd rather get Dez Bryant or even Crabtree...lol---Even though Crabtree seems to be a prick...Everything I hear about Bowe is he is lazy and showed up to camp at over 250lbs...not the kind of person we need on the team, although Crabtree may do the same

He's also the only reason the Wildcat is so effective. Yea let's trade him. lol This site... just wows me.

Bowe isn't proven?!?! He certainly is imo.

And I didn't say it would be easy to replace Ronnie. I said it would be EASIER to replace him than to find a #1 WR elsewhere - like thru the draft.

And by the way, I know Ronnie ran a 4.3 at the combine but he doesn't PLAY anywhere near that fast. He also has just average (at best) vision and balance. He has great hands and blocks well and is a tough runner but he is no where near a "great" RB. He is barely better than Ricky at age 32 and after years of smoking dope!

I make the trade of Ronnie for Bowe no problem and no regrets!

P.S. Ronnie is a FA after this year anyway and I don't want to be the team to give him the big, long term deal (going into his 30s) that he wants.

Yeah - the wildcat is so effective that it helped us win all of....errr...I mean ZERO games this year.

We only needed the wildcat in the first place b/c last year our interior OL couldn't get any push. After signing Jake Grove and getting Smiley and Donald Thomas back healthy, we should be able to run up the middle without the gimmicky wildcat and thus why drafting Pat White in the early 2nd round was also kind of a waste (unless Pat can develop into a real NFL QB).

If we could get him for a 2nd round pick, I would make this deal in a second. We could even throw in Charlie Anderson to sweeten the deal.

P.S. Ronnie has just as many question marks as Bowe. Ronnie has barely been able to stay healthy and has only gotten over a meager 1,000 yards once in his career. I like Ronnie but think Bowe would be a fair trade for him and I think a true #1 WR would help us more right now than an extra RB who is barely better than a 32 year old Ricky Williams.

I would NEVER trade Ronnie for Bowe.. Ginn absolutely, but its gonna take more than Just Ginn.. Probably Ginn and a 1sr or 2nd wich IMO is worth it.

I actually like Bowe but will not want to give up anything higher than a 2nd
