#Eagles contact #Dolphins regarding Dion Jordan

He also made the point that drastic changes are always possible when new management teams take over. Riddick suggested a couple weeks ago that the Dolphins could shop Dion Jordan. And like many others, he connected the dots to the Eagles.
The Eagles are in the market for an edge rusher, as we know, and Dion Jordan has a fan in Chip Kelly. The 6-6, 260-pound Oregon product was selected third overall by the Dolphins in last year's draft, one spot ahead of where the Eagles were picking. While they walked away happy with Lane Johnson, there's little doubt that they would have selected Jordan if he was still available.

"Trust me, the guy that went number three we were considering very heavily, but didn’t get the chance to pull the trigger on that one," Kelly said afterwards.

Kelly is not the only one within the Eagles organization that has eyes for Jordan according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, who had this to say back in January.

The new GM in Miami is Dennis Hickey. I suppose it's possible that Hickey does not view Jordan as a fit and will try to move him. That doesn't completely pass the smell test to me, though. Good pass rushers are very hard to find. And while Jordan managed just two sacks his rookie year and might not be an ideal scheme fit, do you give up on a player with so much potential that quickly?

There is also the financial side of things. If the Dolphins did trade Jordan, they would take a dead money cap hit of $10 million in 2014. (Thanks to friend of the site Sam Lynch with the assist on that one.) Not sure it all adds up.

Interesting, though, that Jordan's name has been brought up in this context on a couple different occasions recently, and that there could be some edge rushers available on the trade market in the coming weeks. The Eagles will be following any developments closely, no doubt.

I cannot believe JLC got something wrong!

Hickey probably wants to keep him around so the staff he puts in place after next year will have some talent to work with.

Dion should have a huge year. The guys Ireland drafted all seemed to develop in their second or third year.

Healed shoulder, weight gain, full offseason of training = big 2014 for Dion

For the right price everybody is avaliable.

2014 Rd 1, Rd 3rd, and 2015 rd 1 and maybe a player.

depending how big a hard-on the Eagles have.

Just play the kid and watch him make an impact. Get him in the weight room and let him loose. Stop with the games.

wait, so Ireland did something good?

This board is pshyco.

Huh? For Jordan? Not even close.

It's the right move to not trade him as Imo he will be a force, but currently his trade value is nowhere near that.

it was reported the other day jordan had bad work ethic and was lazy , and that was the reason he seen little playing time. special teams was like a message to shape up....the guy was the 3rd overall pick and he doesnt have GREAT work ethic? that makes ireland look even dumber, if thats possible, and that is a huge warning sign that this guy will be a BUST! if we could get a 1st for him im sure hickey would do it in a heartbeat, but no way someone offers that.
