I asked for a few opinions on how these two new dolphins played last year over at an Eagles forum and got the following responses.. I'll update as I get more.

Maxwell had a rough start in week 1, getting dominated by Julio Jones. He improved though and actually played pretty well for most of the season. He wasn't a shutdown corner but he was definitely a solid starter, albeit an expensive one.
Kiko battled injuries and never could get consistent playing time, and when he did he was actually somewhat of a liability. He's simply wasn't a good enough tackler, probably because he's undersized for a linebacker. Still a freak athlete though and he's definitely worth another shot.

Maxwell started off the year terribly when Julio Jones was on his "**** NFL CBs" tour and he just happened to be the opening act, but rounded off the year as a solid starter. He's a CB2 getting paid CB1 money. Another thing you should be prepared for, he always goes for the strip and not the tackle. So...much...bled...yardage......
I'm a Kiko fan, but it all depends on his health. If he can get back to what he was in Buffalo y'all got a gem. If not, he's a liability out there both in coverage and run defense.

Kiko made one memorable play, a one-handed interception in the end zone, that's about it. Maxwell looked scared out there for the first half of the season and tightened up to serviceable by season's end.

I can't remember how many times I said.. "****ing Maxwell" all season. (Lost count) His performance to cost ratio was terrible IMO.
Kiko.. I think he's got some upside and he's not costing much right now.

Let me make it simple - garbage

People will make excuses for Maxwell saying that he wasn't utilized right in Billy Davis' defense, I personally was never a huge fan of the signing cause I felt he was just a product of his environment in Seattle. He got his ring and cashed out, that's how I see it.
His coverage wasn't great and he almost seemed to refuse to make a tackle at times.
Kiko just never seemed healthy, I hope he bounces back because his Buffalo film is scary.

Kiko was garbage this year, physically and mentally underachieving. Torn ACL last year, and I didn't pay attention to him 2 years ago so all my experience with him has been negative.
Maxwell underperformed relative to his huge contract, but I still think he can be an average starting CB.

Maxwell was above average after week 3 but still got so many pass interference calls it was absurd.
Kiko was injured but honestly dreadful the entire season.

Kiko is a pretty cool guy.

More added

People make injury excuses for Alonso, but it runs deeper than that. When healthy at the middle and end of the season he was shying away from intact and avoiding tackles. We had our linebackers decimated by injury and he played a ton in the second half of the season...He finished with 43 total tackles. For a MLB. Let that sink in. He was slow, struggled finishing tackles, constantly trying to arm tackle.
Maxwell is a decent player. He is a mediocre to slightly above average CB. He's absolutely not worth top-5 CB money. Idc what anyone says. He can't cover Dez or Julio Jones. He also can't tackle. When his man catches the ball he isn't violent, he basically holds him up until someone bigger can come make the tackle...It's really weak.

Soft as ****. I think Kiko can bounce back. But all hope for Maxwell is gone. He doesn't have the brains to be a #1CB. He will need safety help to see success.
Enjoy the slants

And we traded to GET these guys. I'm sure there are some spinsters out there looking at rainbows. These rainbows start at the porta potty and end at the sewage treatment facility.

Yay us.

Again, we traded to GET these guys.

I dont place much stock in fan bases takes but ehh this reads pretty damn ugly

Because TannenBUM (a former Jets loser) is the one pulling the trigger on these deals. Doesn't shock me at all. He sucks big time and Stephen Ross thinks he's wonderful.

Thanks for this, but it wouldn't also be nice to get the opinions of Seahawks and Bills fans? Since the hope/reasoning behind this trade is that they were not utilized properly in Philly and will fit our system better? (more so Maxwell than Alonso, kinda more about health with him I would imagine)

BillsFanInPeace, CircleTheWagons...where art thou

Maxwell is overpaid, but word is you guys are reworking his contract, so that he may be on a better deal for you guys. He is not a shutdown corner, but he looked decent down the stretch for the most part, he did seem uninterested at times and took plays off though. I am less optimistic about Kiko than others in the sub. A lot of people in this sub make excuses for him regarding coming off an injury, but Sean Lee came off the same injury and looked great. Kiko was also out of position on nearly 50% of the plays last season which is more than just injury. He looked lost and doesn't seem to excel on the mental side of the game. He is on an expiring rookie contract, so there isn't much risk, but if you get last season's Kiko hoping for Bills rookie year Kiko you will be quite disappointed. I wouldn't get your hopes up, but think of it low risk risk move with possible upside.

It's usually a good idea to take these with a grain of salt as many fanbases will find reasons to dislike a player, or cling to his flaws when he's moved from the team.. especially while the compensation hasn't been revealed yet.

I might go ask the seahawks and bills fanbases too, thats a good idea Broccoli. Or I'll go look for similar threads when they were traded from the Bills/Seahawks in the first place.

The only thing I'll say is that whenever anyone leaves a team it's all negative. If we had traded Grimes the posters here would be saying Congrats Eagle fans you got declining trash.

These guys have underachieved. But maybe Vance Joseph can bring out their talents again.

I certainly don't like the idea of Alonso as he hasn't done a thing since his rookie season as he's injured all the time. Just what we need, an injury prone linebacker. We already have one of them (Koa Misi)

If TBaum got these guys for any thing later than a 3rd round pick he is a beast. Kiko Alonso = high risk/ high reward, Maxwell fills a serviceable vet's role and fills a position of need.

This move allows us more flexibility in the draft.

In 2015 Kiko Alonso missed 6 games (games 3-7, and 16) due to his knee and Maxwell missed the last 3 games (games 14-16) due to a shoulder injury. So neither player finished the year healthy. Better acquire some depth but now we'll have one less draft pick to do so.

Find the threads on here about played we traded/released that went on to be damn good elsewhere. Exactly. Grain of salt

I think just like Kiko and the Cuban community, the black Miami community will welcome Maxwell with open arms as well.
