Early entries in the NBA Draft

Man Uconn has been robbed the last 2 years with guys leaving early.. We could field this team in the last 2 years..

PG - Marcus Williams
SG - Rudy Gay
SF - Charlie Villanueva
PF - Josh Boone
C - Andrew Bynum

I guess it is tough being at the top.. Uconn has some great prospects coming in but that is alot of talent to lose in back to back years..

UNC should be in the top 5 next season.

I sure hope these guys come to their senses. It shouldnt take much intelligence for most of them to figure out that they arent going to be drafted. Early entries, especially the ones that arent even drafted, have really hit the NCAA hard the last few years. The NBA needs to find a better way to advise these players.....a lot of them really think they are going to get drafted.

Take a look at what the dookies would have....just think of the possibilities.

PG - Livingston
SG - Henderson
SF - Deng
PF - McRoberts
C - Howard

Not to mention what carolina could of been last year....

PG - Felton
SG - McCants
SF - Marvin

I'd guess they get #1 preseason ranking, even if they dont really deserve it. The recruiting class is rather unprecidented....they have the top PG, SG, and PF in the country coming in Lawson, Ellington, and Wright. Not to mention Stepheson.

Problem is, a lot of these kids have one of two problems (and often both of them):
1. a difficult family situation where money is so tight that they feel they have to make a jump.
2. predatory agents or hangers-on telling them how great they are enough that they believe it.

Every single year, a rudimentary analysis of the numbers of college seniors, foreigners in the draft and underclassmen tells us that not all of them can get drafted. Yet I would venture that just about every single one of these kids believes in his heart, "that ain't me." I'm sure there are a few every year, like Shav Randolph last year, who know they're not getting drafted, but just can't handle being in college any longer and figure they'll take their chances, come what may.

I believe that Marty Blake, the NBA's director of scouting, does advise these kids, upon request, as to where they're likely to go. I know the NFL does that, and I'm nearly certain the NBA does as well.

Would anyone here want to expand the NBA draft to an extra round or two....I think it might be good

theres no enough spots on the team for that.

Then send them to a developmental league or something. I know there isnt a roster spot for everyone, but that doesnt mean you cant draft them and work them out, you dont have to give them a contract

Your seeing more and more undrafted guys become good players for there teams

Ben Wallace, Udonis Haslem and im sure many others

yea, but who cares. what would 2 more rounds accomplish? it would make the draft longer, more boring as round 3 and 4 arent makin the team from day 1, so really who cares about those 2 rounds. It creates less chance for the players who get drafted, their worse off that way. It takes more scouts, more time out of their scouting, etc. ........

theres just no reason to.

I guess I just want to see a few more guys get a shot, there really isnt a need or reason to though

A huge number of second round picks don't even make teams; there's no point in adding a third round. If the D-League catches on, and becomes a true minor league feeder system for the NBA, then great, maybe it makes sense. But until that point, it doesn't.

The best hope for that is a successful NBDL.
