If Saban is thinking like I am, which I hope he is, then the QB he chooses to start will NOT be the one that is going to go out there and win the game for us, rather, it will be the QB that is going to go out there and not LOSE the game for us. With our defense as good as it is going to be this year and hopefully a powerful running game, the LAST thing we need is for a QB to give up points and field position through turnovers. If Feeley can be programmed not to get aggressive and just keep us in the game, throw a 10 yard pattern on 3rd and 7, and manage the game, then Feeley should start. If Gus can do a better job of NOT LOSING the game, then let him start. In my mind, the starter shouldn't be the guy that can go make plays happen, rather, the guy who is smart enough to know that we have a good running game and a good defense.... JUST KEEP US IN THE GAME!

Have you ever considered becoming a fan of the Pitt Panthers?

Wanny... is that you? You dont have to be ashamed... you can tell us that its you...

Nasty

I think that is just what we are getting away from...the Wanny..playing-not-to-lose syndrome. I want the team to go out there an go after it...if Feeley turns the ball over, so be it...if it continues to be a habit, he won't be in there...Under Wanny, even though Ears was obviously not the guy to take us to the next level...he never brought in talent and gave them the opportunity to take Ears' place...He always played is safe and we ended up being sorry for it...

I don't think either of the QB's have the "play not to lose" mentality like Fiedler had.

Playing not to lose is a good mindset you want your back-up QB to have. Playing to win is how you want your starting QB to play...

Wrong answer, we tried the manager route, it doesnt work. A qb has to be able to create and make plays, if he cant and is only a manager, the defenses will force that qb into situations he cannot handle and thus render teh offense ineffective.
