Edgerrin A Dolphin?

It's the weekly Edge to Miami thread!

Hey, I never responded to the other 500 Edge to Miami threads. Besides, I would rather see a weekly Harrison to Miami thread! When is his contract up? He could make Sage look like a Pro Bowler.

Edge short term solution? Their ages are closer than you think.

I hope this hasn't been posted yet,

but you have to think about Gordon's contract too, if he only has 2 yrs left i think we go after edge.

It just really depends on how Gordon does this year,

as well as edge, if the guy gets 1500+ yds rushing, and says he wants to play for the phins, we'd be dumb not too look his way, right?

He sure did play well vs the Pats D

i like edge, but i think the better path is to sign a much lower cost f.a. like the jets jordan. let him compete with gordon for starter but use both to the tune of 500 or so carries between them. as for the draft i wouldn't mind using both the 1st and 3rd round picks for two big 2 gap dt's. bowens is old and hurt, zgonina is old and small, and romerio doesn't seem to be a replacement for either. 2nd day draft picks and f.a. will need to fill roster spots at lb ( seau ), safety ( possibly knight, edwards and/or freeman may be gone ), wr ( does boston get salary cap cut? ), qb ( veteran qb to replace fiedler ), and ol ( probably veteran guard to push whitley ).

Doesn't matter what back we have back there if the O-line isn't solid. Everything I've read over the past month indicates we have problems there. Just look at Denver's system. They put out 1200 yard backs like they have a puppy farm of 'em. I say we work on upgrading the O-line.

Dont get me wrong..Im a huge Edge fan but it all comes down to how Gordon does this year and where we finish. If Gordon does bad, and Edge is to much, Im all for Cedric Benson out of Texas with our first pick.(If we dont do so well that is) But lets hope for the best.
I'm going to be the first to vote "No more Longhorn runningbacks!" D*mn T-Sips...:roflmao:

Seems to be open to the idea. From this week's Sports Illustrated:

On the possibility of returning to his hometown, Miami, to play for the Dolphins when his contract ends after the season

"I'm not stupid. We've got the coolest owner [Jim Irsay], a coach [Tony Dungy] I could play for till I'm 50, and Mr. Polian [the team's president] went out on a limb to get me coming out of college. So the Colts have first choice. Then again, I'm open-minded. I have kids in Florida who I only see on my cellphone. I get lonely in Indy, and in a perfect world you'd be with your family. Bottom line is, whatever's thrown my way, I'll be fine. It's like when my brothers and I were kids, and my mom used to get put out of houses. We'd pick up our s---, say 'See y'all later,' go stay somewhere else and make the best of it. "
I dont think he wants to come to Miami to become a battering ram ala Ricky. He will probably see if there will be any coaching changes before he makes that decision.

I am almost certainly in the minority on this one, but as long as Dumbstache is our HC, I do NOT want another "stud" RB on the team. We need to achieve a balanced game, and right now, we are "forced" to throw, to open up the run, so we will have SOME balance. We have all kinds of talent in place to catch the ball, we just need to get it to them ! ! !

I agree. Lets get some balance going with the offense. I want to see the ball thrown down the field again, with accuracy, thats not happenned since the Marino days. And Im not bashing anybody, although I am glad to see Feeley as the starter, teams have not feared our passing game since Dan left. Maybe now with Feeley, McMicheal, Chambers and Booker we will see that change.

We have Lamar Gordon now, no way we go after Edge. I see this team going after DT's and OL next year.
I agree lets see how Gordon works out when he gets a chance to learn the system. The Dline will need attention as far as DT's go, and another year of drafting Oline will add much needed depth. Oh yeah, drafting a quarterback would be nice in the earlier rounds!

I'm not.. Are you comfortable with the amount of money that guy will cost?

I seriously doubt that Rick would do this based on what this team already lacks.
A. Edge will be the best running back in FA this next year. If the Fins dont try to bring him in, then your front office is seriously screwed up. The Colts have every intention to sign him and Harrison this off season, so dont make too much of a deal over it. All that talk about Edge to Miami when the pot smoker quit was just talk.

What do you do for a living?

Don't quit.

Edge is a good running back but not for what he will surely get paid next contract.

Rikey is a better back and we still werent worth a crap on 3rd. down & we missed the playoffs again.

What the Fins need is linemen on both sides of the ball and I'd bet that is what we go after.
