Edmunds Not Getting Tagged Headed To FA.

Mee likey #49 in Aqua and Orange.
Me no likey :)

He’s def gotten better and is still young, but I would pass.. and that might be purely bias based I admit..

I'll check back in with you in three weeks bud. Keep an open mind. We're a contender and now have Fangio which is going to rocket the desirability of the FA's though, they still want money.

You discounting the fact that Fangio was brought in to coach and improve things that way. Fangio's addition doesn't signify some kind of influx of talent is coming.

If anything it lets you focus on RT, TE and RB along with getting a CB, which is more important than LB.

Fangio was the big signing.

Edmunds would be a great addition as a 3rd round pick on a rookie contract for 4 years.

That's an intriguing way of looking at it. I guess in three weeks time we'll know for sure. I'm sure it's a blend. Fangio is devouring tapes of some of the players that we need to decide whether to dump or keep. From that, he'll make a shopping list. I expect an impactful signing at ILB with plenty of other players being coached up to improve. I could be wrong.

If we restructure Tyreek Hill and Terron Armstead, cut Byron Jones and Jerome Baker with post-June 1 designations, trade Cedric Wilson, and cut Durham Smythe, Keion Crossen, and Cethan Carter, we will open up $69 million in cap space.

We can free up tens of millions more by restructuring Chubb and/or Ogbah, and by extending Christian Wilkins or Connor Williams with deals that lower their cap numbers for this year.

We can spend essentially as much as we want. Some of you are not living in reality thinking we’re cap strapped.

We are probably going to be fairly big spenders in free agency this off-season given that we need a starting tight end, starting inside linebacker, starting cornerback, and also arguably have needs for one more starting OL and one more starting safety.

The only path I could see taking with Edmunds would be on a 1 year prove it deal, if he just doesn't like the offers hes getting in FA. Which is a strong possibility. There isn't as much cap space available across the league as their usually is. Daniel Jones, Lamar Jackson, Geno Smith, Kaleb Mcgary, Orlando Brown, Daron Payne, once those guys get tagged or signed, its going to remove a ton of cap space from the collective pot.

The Bears have already stated they don't plan on spending big, which is brilliant IMO. Next year's FA class is significantly better than this years very weak class. The Bears will sit back waiting for good deals and the Texans aren't close to spending big on FA's. Who will want to sign with the Falcons?

This is going to be an odd FA year. I suspect we'll see A LOT of 1 year deals.

We would be better off spending that money on CB/OL. If we were to spend big on LB, Wagner would be my first choice.

Edmunds will get a hefty deal somewhere and there are cheaper options that would still be significant upgrades IMO.

Well said, but there are so many positions of need but I don't want to burn this year and future years just to get a shiny new toy at the expense of mediocrity later (say when we have to negotiate Waddle, Tua, etc). All those restructures come due sooner or later. Most agree with have three to five definite needs in CB, RB, OT and LB, five if you count TE. One or two of those should be addressed by FA, the others draft. IMO that is. Thanks for putting those numbers together also, I'd like more posters to really expand on that.

if you could do x and had this much money what would you do. I'll do mine at some point as I get time, who I would release, waive, sign in FA, draft all within cap.

Other thing that comes to mind is that Tremaine Edmunds' Dad, Ferrell Edmunds was a Miami Dolphin Tight End in the Don Shula days and even made 2 pro bowl teams. High probability that he grew up as a Dolphins fan and would like the prospect of wearing an aqua jersey. Biggest factor is whether Vic Fangio sees him as a good fit for the new defensive system to be installed.

Curious if Edmunds is the #1 LB on the FA market or is it still Wagner for a short term gain?
I think it depends on the financial commitment. I assume Edmunds will want a longer contract.

Because of his age, Wagner might be cheaper and probably on a shorter contract. That might actually fit Miami better.
