we lose two LBs and replace them with non LBs. I understand a CB but not the WR. Is it valuable to have extra receivers in camp? Obviously the FO, coaches, etc have more info and more knowledge than most of us. Does the FO feel that we will play two rather than three LBs so often that we can go with the current roster? Are they aware of someone they will likely be able to add with the last round of team cuts?

If street free-agents are being added at this stage of training camp, they're turning over rocks looking for guys who can contribute on special teams. Maybe they get a few reps in individual drills but not being relied on for base offense/defense until guys ahead of them wash out.

right. definitely can't look at positions signed for the 88th, 89th, 90th spot on the camp roster. they want anyone that looks like they might have a chance at anything.

Brother Scott and Ford at the WR position are hurt. Need to have players in camp especially with an up tempo offense.

well look at this way if you have 1st, 2nd and 3rd team offenses taking reps and you run a lot of three receiver sets you are going to need 9 receivers right off the top. And you're going to want to give a receiver a rest now and then so you likely need at least 2 or 3 more in reserve. To put things in perspective the Patriots currently have 12 receivers in camp. Right now Miami has 13 receivers on the roster 11 of which are healthy.

For Miami the LB and wr positions are similar where both units have three players on the field a lot and occasionally will have two playing. Miami currently has 11 healthy receiver bodies and 10 healthy linebackers. Also 6 of the receivers are udfa types (Stringfellow, Lewis, Owusu, Morgan, Mathews and Westerkamp) and two others Carroo and Grant have very little experience. Miami has 3 combined career receptions from their non-starters at wr in camp.

It's camp, doesn't mean any of them making the cut. Just need plenty of bodies. Especially with as hot as it gets in S-Florida.
