This isn't a thread on who we'll pick now, theres one for that. I'm thinking what does this trade do for the market? If you look at the value chart, it has the Falcons pick being worth 1050 and the Broncos pick being worth 640. Supposedly two middle round choices were dealt, one from 2006 and one from 2007. Assuming they are 3rd round picks, Denver still got more bang for their buck according to the chart. Especially because, i *think* that future picks have less value. Regardless, unless a 2nd round pick was involved, I think they robbed the Falcons blind, probably taking advantage of ATLs desperation to land Abraham. This might not bode well for Miami's option of trading down to get more picks. I didnt see Saban trading down after this FA period has progressed and I certainly don't see him doing so for less than the value of the 16th pick.

Broncos | Targeting QB with No. 15 overall pick

Denver Broncos are expected to target a quarterback after acquiring the No. 15 overall pick from the Atlanta Falcons in a three-team deal.

I don't know that its all that much of a steal... The Falcons get one of the best DE's in the game and two picks for a mid-1st-round pick. That's not a bad deal... nobody knows what the 15th pick in the draft will turn into. But, the Falcons know they have a probowl DE who is still young enough to contribute for several years..

The Falcons didnt do poor in the trade overall, getting Abraham was a coup. But they didnt get him from Denver, they got him from NY. The movement of the picks between ATL and DEN was the first major movement I believe of 2006 with draft picks and might determine value for future trades. The 29th pick plus a low 3rd and a future (low probably) 4th for the 15th pick is a horrible deal stand alone for the Falcons. Their saving grace was getting Abraham but I think the damage might be done if we had any plans of trading down to get a 2nd.

I believe Saban if he is interested can swing a deal with the 49ers for the #6 overall. Trade #16 overall and maybe a player?? and move up to #6 and Miami would have their chance to get Michael Huff, the Brick, etc. That is a possibility. If Saban see's potential with that pick, I think Tye Hill, Cromrotie, Greenway or possibly Chad Jackson would be good at that pick.

Theres nobody on our roster we can trade to move up that high, at least nobody we can part with without taking a massive cap hit. Chad Jackson might fall to 16 and if you wanted to draft him you wouldnt have to go past 13 or 14 so it'd be a waste to go so high. Unless Saban parts with next year's first, I don't see a way to trade up.

EDIT: The other guys you mentioned will almost 100% be available for us at 16, probably even further down than that.

The more interesting thing is if the Broncos make a move for somebody else such as trading with the Ravens at 13 to move up over the Eagles for Lendale White.
