Egnew being waived -- Per Schefter

Here's what's odd about Egnew, who was released today to give him time to latch on with another team: Jeff Ireland drafted him believing he could run routes and catch passes downfield but not block especially well. He drafted him even though several Missouri tight ends since Kellen Winslow flopped in the NFL.

As it turned out, tight ends coach Dan Campbell said recently that Egnew's strength in the past year was blocking but that he needs to improve on running routes and helping in the passing game. So exactly the opposite of what Ireland thought he was drafting.

We'd have been so much better off if Ireland just did the opposite of every instinct...

Oh yeah. We gonna have a bump fest. I'll look some of your way off posts and see who has more lol.[

Have at it. However, there will be 4 TE's on this roster come next week after cut downs.

If you think there will be 3 TE's because a lousy TE was waived so be it.

The issue between us was me simply me disagreeing with you that there will be more than 3 TE's after cut down. Then you telling me to calm down over something that was a simple disagreement. Just for the record btw.

Right now 4 TEs making final 53 would be Clay, Sims, Lynch and Brackett. Lynch only makes it because he was drafted. He has looked like the second coming of Egnew.

Joe Philbin's comments at last practice re Egnew:

Another reason you shouldn't get overly excited about what he says, especially about Daniel Thomas who I think will get cut as well.

That's why you take anything a player or coaches says with a grain of salt. They talk professionally most of the time (AKA lie through their teeth constantly)

Agree. I am highly disappointed in Lynch right now. Brackett or Miller probably deserve to be there before Lynch...

Well Billecheat has 2 full weeks to pick his brain about our new offense.

look at the bright side........., ireland could have drafted him with the 3rd over all pic instead of the 3rd round.

and he probably thought about it. :(

How can you say lynch looks like Egnew? He has yet to play due to injury. Egnew just sucked

Message to ME from BB - Waterboarding with ice water (part of the ALSA challenge) starts at Foxboro at 7.00am Monday. Catch a flight up the night before and have an enema before you arrive. This is a fabulous opportunity to contribute to an elite unprincipled franchise by telling all you know. A comprehensive breakdown of the Dolphin playbook will be expected together with knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of all players on the Dolphin roster. Catching and blocking skills may be tested after the comprehensive medical. A complimentary basket of Kraft products and an old gray hoodie will be in your hotel room. Gronk will supply the locker room entertainment. Welcome to New England.
