I am not sure about Elam's potential skills to be a cb, but he has the size and speed Saban likes to be a cb. I would not be shocked if that is the intention. That said, these three guys are the 3 Saban mentioned as possibly helping the team right now from rookie mini camp. And Atari sure has a fan club on this sight. I have seen him play, but not enough to remember like the Knight fans on this sight. By the way Central Florida, welcome to the Conference USA. Being a USM graduate as well as a Georgia graduate, I have seen so many of these guys play live.

We're weaker at safety then corner. Why would we do such a move?

We are fine at CB with who we got. We need a good S, not another CB.

Kickers dont make very great corners.

Yeah byroan and Phindude said it. It wouldn't be such a logical move to switch Elam to safety even though he does have the size and speed to be a cornerback that Saban likes. Our weakest position may very well be S (Free Safety to be specific). With young unproven players with potential like Bell and Tillman... there's no telling who's going to start and we have no DEPTH at all. I think Bigby and Elam were good pick ups and both will fight to make the team to give us some more depth. I think Bigby has a good chance of making the team, and unless Elam shows something real great in Training Camp... he might end up on practice squad. There's no doubt that S is a bgiger than CB right now (even with Poole going down), and I think that we signed Elam to play S unless you're right and Saban did see something special.

I was projecting Elam a little like Daniels

However, with that said, we are weak at safety. Three guys to look at the safety position that are already on the roster are Williams (Wake Forest), Bua, and Eiland (South Carolina). Eiland has some speed and has played corner.

Elam runs 4.54 in the 40 according to one of the draft publications.

I am excited about these three signees more so than some of the orginal guys. Denney, Solomona, Thompson, and V. Brown are real long shots. Turner and Curry are long shots. Madison and Huggins are long shots. I think Sesay, Holmes, Davis, Harris, Mitchell, Bigby, and Meeks have the best shot in my opinion to get a spot on the roster. Elam may as well.

The Dolphins are still very short on depth at corner. So someone will be signed to at least practice. The Dolphins have more numbers at safety right now than they have at corner. Here are the corners on the roster:

Roundtree
Haw
Madison
Howard
Edwards

That is it. The only healthy corners on the roster. Here are the safties:

Eiland
Williams
Atkins
Bell
Jones
Elam
Bigby
Tillman
Bua
Hunt

There are double the number of safeties.
