I'm glad a poster brought up a new name in here- Eli Apple.

You don't see him in a lot of top 10 mock these days but you should and will

He's a bigger more physical corner from OSU who has played well against good teams like Alabama and Michigan State and Michigan.

I like this kid because he reminds me of another Big 10 physical, bigger corner we took in 1992 at #7 who also hailed from the S Jersey area.

Yeah, I could definitely see him as a target for Miami and expect Eli Apple to fly up the charts. He may already be there in terms of NFL scouts. The Dolphins are talking the talk about getting more physical. Like you said, that is one of Apple's strengths.

I think Kevin Dodd is another guy who will move up. I'm no expert on grading talent, but he definitely looks right up there with Shaq Lawson. Will be interesting to see how high Dodd goes.

OSU's schedule was so bad at times the CB's looked bored. Apple did play well in big games though and he'll have an impressive showing at the combine.

I am a huge Clemson fan went to all the games. Love Dodd and he was a beast this year but I would be a little leary that he has been there 5 years and had 1 good one. Not very productive other wise. Maybe if he is there in the 2nd. I think Shaq is the better of the 2.

Im the biggest buckeye fan in the world and i love Eli Apple, just not sure he is ready for the NFL yet. He is gonna get picked on a lot in year 1.

I'd be interested in hearing any opinions you may have about Alexander, Lawson, or Kearse

Alexander is a good corner, how good is sorta unknown due to him not being tested a lot in his 2 years and has 1 interception his whole career. He has exceptional cover skills and elite closing speed, has a chance to be special.

Lawson is a workhorse DE, not a lot of moves but he's a beast on setting the edge and he was a dominate force this season from game 1 to the natty.

Kearse isn't really great at anything he's got elite size, decent speed but he's not a great cover guy and isn't as good in the box as you'd think by his size.

Like I said in an earlier post I love Shaq Lawson. Never quits, never takes a play off. Sets the edge and can get after the passer. Kearse has all the physical attributes big frame can move and tackle. Gets lost in coverage and to me didnt play well the last half of the year. Not sure if he was hurt or playing not to get hurt just disappeared. 3rd or 4th. Alexander is tougher for me to scout because nobody ever tried him in the 2 years he played. When they did he had them covered but I mean really in 2 years maybe 1 or 2 passes a game and that was about it. Never gave up a TD in 2 years. Held the kid from Oklahoma to 6 catches total in the two meetings. Held the kid from Notre Dame to 1 catch while he was on him. Not many interceptions but cant really catch it if its not thrown your way. A little high to me at 8 but if you could drop and get him to me he should go mid 20's

Just saw your response. Almost to the letter what i thought.

He looks like he would be a good pickup. A bit young, but that's probably what has kept him from the top of most people draft boards. I kind of look at that as a positive though. He was effective right away at OSU.

I'm not a buckeye fan by any stretch but was impressed w/ Apple and Perry (LB).

The phins should think about both & seriously consider either if they are on the board when Miami picks in rd 2.

Perry will be very interesting at the combine. With his long strides it's really hard to tell how fast he is. Definitely a big dude.

I like Apple better than the Clemson kid. A year ago at this time Apple was rated higher. More often than not I like to default to early impression and ignore the later overreactions, unless it involves something like metric deficiency in a key area.

Apple looked like a premier athlete last season. I never had that feeling about Alexander. This season Apple got burned more frequently and didn't seem to have the same swagger. He did fare well in the bowl game against Fuller, even though Bosa was ejected early and Ohio State's defense suffered immensely.

If Apple runs fast at the combine and drills as expected, he could pass Alexander and Hargreaves on some teams' boards. His size and physicality impress.
